We hired houses (for each of our families) through Private Properties which were located at Caves Ridge (just behind Seashells Apartments) to stay at, leading up to and after the wedding. Why did you both choose Yallingup as the place to get married? Nelson proposed at Yallingup beach. We also both love spending time down south.
What did you do for your hen’s party and Nelson do for his buck’s party? Our bridal parties both arranged house parties then headed out.
Was there any time throughout planning your wedding that you felt stressed? The week before the wedding organising all the little things and getting everything ready to take away with us.
Who helped you to plan your wedding? My mum and my bridesmaids.
How did you incorporate your and Nelson's personality into your wedding? We both wanted a fairly easy going fun wedding. Having the wedding down south we hoped it would be a relaxed and fun weekend for everyone.
What was the easiest part to plan for your wedding? Ceremony/Reception Location.
What was the first thing you booked for your wedding day? Caves House- ceremony/reception location.
Did you have a budget for your wedding and did you stick to it? We had a rough budget, we kept a very organised track of costs. Surprisingly ended up not to far over budget.
How many guests did you have at your wedding? 80.
When did you start looking for your wedding dress? Almost straight away! Probably around 12 to 9 months before the wedding.
Who did you take with you? My mum and bridesmaids
How many shops did you go to, to find your wedding dress? 4 shops.
Why did you chose the style of flowers you had on your wedding day? We had a vintage theme wedding so the flowers were designed to be soft/open/romantic and elegant.
Tell me about the running of the day what time did you start preparing etc? Early start for the girls. . . I started getting my hair ready first at 7am followed by the bridesmaids etc. Our makeup was done in between hair. The photographer and videographer arrived at the boys house at 1pm and then at the girls house at 1:30pm. This was when I started getting into my dress to be ready for the ceremony at 2:30pm.
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, what were these items? One of my Nana's lent me a family antique blue broach which was my something old, borrowed and blue- I attached this broach to my bouquet. My other Gran lent us her wedding champagne goblets which we used at the reception- again a something borrowed and old. My something new was my dress and accessories.
There is a beautiful picture of you and your Nan while you were getting ready any words of wisdom from her in regards to getting married? My Gran was thrilled to be able to make it to the wedding and be part of the day.
How did you decorate your wedding ceremony? White gladiator chairs for guests, white paper lanterns, flowers on chairs lining the aisle and rose petals scattered down the aisle.
Describe what happened at your ceremony? It was a fairly simple and short ceremony.
Did you say traditional vows to one another or write your own? A combination of traditional wording with some additions of our own.
What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and Nelson went off and had wedding photos? Garden games and Caves House bar.
Why did choose Caves House as your wedding venue? As mentioned above- Nelson proposed at Yallingup Beach. We both like Caves house and always go there for a drink or meal when we go down south.
How many venues did you look at before you chose Caves House? A few but we were fairly set on Caves House from the start.
How did you decorate your wedding venue? Staying with the vintage theme. On the guests tables we had wooden bird cages decorated with flowers, love bird pairs, small coloured vintage vases with flowers on glass mirrors with tea light candles. The room had a fireplace and mantel piece which we decorated with a few large vases, candles and photo frames the photos were of our parents and grandparents on their wedding day.
What happened at your reception? Toasts? Dancing? Any funny or meaningful stories? All of these. Lots of dancing! We had the dance floor on the terrace which was great.
What was your first dance song? Frank Sinatra - The way you look tonight.
What was the style of catering at your reception? Modern Australia.
Funniest moment of your wedding day? The bestman's speech.
Describe the look and flavor of your cake, plus any other desserts that were served: Cake simple elegant look. White fondant three tiered cake decorated with fresh flowers to match the bouquets. Flavor chocolate torte- really yummy! Desert served- mini pavlova.
What did everyone think of the candy buffet? Very popular - amongst all ages!
That were the bombonieres for your guests? Take home jar of candy from candy bar and sugared almond bundles- made by by Nana. |
