Why did you choose 11th September as your wedding date?

After knowing each other for years we went on our first official date on the 11th September 12 months earlier.

What was the theme for your wedding?
The bridesmaids wore Purple and we asked guests not to wear black. I wanted a colorful wedding.

Where did you get inspiration for decorating your wedding?
I came up with it all myself.

Who was in your bridal party?
Best man was James who is one of Lukes best friend.  My bridesmaids were my nieces. In some way all our nieces and nephews were involved as family is very important to us we also had our siblings as witnesses breaking the typical tradition of Maid of Honor and Best Man.

What was the hardest part to plan for your wedding?
The reception. It was really the only thing I had problems with, possibly because we are from Perth trying to deal with people via email or phone calls and not face to face.

Did you have a budget and did you stick to it?
Yes and we actually came in under budget.

What was the one thing you weren’t going to comprise on for your wedding?
Photos we wanted the best and were prepared for other sacrifices to get them.  We were lucky and our photos were a wedding present.

How many guests did you have at your wedding?
50.

When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
Straight away, we got engaged New Years Eve and I started looking in February.

What flowers did you carry?
Silk flowers, I wanted to keep them and I also didn't want a heavy bouquet. The style I wanted I knew would be heavy.  The bouquet was made up of mainly roses.

What happened at your ceremony and what time was your ceremony?
We wanted our ceremony to be fun and light hearted.  We incorporated our distant Irish heritage by having a Hand Fasting ceremony.  Were we had 13 different colored ribbons representing different aspects of life tied to our hands fasting us together.  We were married at 11am, we knew a few people would want to head back to Perth as early as possible so we had an early ceremony and lunch time reception.

What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and Luke went off and had wedding photos?
It was only a little over an hour when we were gone so most people hung around at Wyndham where we put pre lunch drinks on from 12.00.
Where did you go for wedding photos?
A favorite family location of Luke's.

Why did choose Wyndham Resort as your complete wedding venue?
Everything in one place. We wanted to have our wedding Downsouth it was already a struggle for some people to get there.  We didn't want to make our guests drive all over the place for us.  We also wanted to make it easy on us as well.

What happened at your reception?
We did all the traditional things.  Toasts, first dance etc. Funniest thing to happen was our 9 year nephew won the garter toss. We stuck to tradition on the garter toss and the bouquet throw. Luke flicked my garter into the crowd and our 15 year old nephew held up our 9 year old nephew to catch the garter, he was worried after he won that he had to get married next.

What food was served at the reception?
We had a 3 course set menu.

Best moment of your wedding day?
The ceremony it was exactly what we could have hoped for.

Describe the look and flavour of your cake, plus any other desserts that were served?
We had a beautiful thick chocolate cake. It was two tier and decorated just as our cake lady Gaye felt on the day.  We weren't terribly helpful, originally I wanted a purple ribbon on the cake however when we arrived to drop the ribbon we discovered we had left it back in Perth.  When I rang Gaye to tell her she told me not to worry she would sort it out with Ivory colored ribbons and other bits. In the end the cake was more beautiful than I imagined and certainly more beautiful than with purple ribbon.

Did you make anything for your wedding?
Invitations, wedding programs, bonbonnieres, place cards, menus.

What were the bonbonnieres for your guests?
Cadbury Chocolate Hearts and Sugared Almonds.

Where did you spend your wedding night?
Wyndham Resort & Spa.

How do you feel now that your wedding is over?
Very happy.

Were did you honeymoon?
We went for a couple of tours through Europe. Other than the flights it was a fantastic trip.
