Why did you choose the beach for your wedding ceremony?
The beach is one of our favourite places to be.
Was there any time throughout your wedding planning that you felt stressed? I think I was most stressed two days before my wedding when everyone started to arrive down south, there way was too much going on.
Who helped you to plan your wedding? I was lucky I had a lot of help from my mum, bridesmaids, friends and family.
What was the theme and colour scheme for your wedding? Bright orange and natural materials.
Where did you get inspiration for ideas for your wedding? We love bright colors (orange is my favourite). I also love the feel of earthy products such as recycled jars, dried wheat, native flowers etc.
Did you have a budget for your wedding and did you stick to it? No not really, we are sensible people we know what adds value and doesn't, however I can see how it could get out of hand.
How many guests did you have at your wedding? 86 guests.
Who went with you shopping for your wedding dress? My mum had moved to Brisbane so originally we went shopping there however I had seen a dress in a bridal magazine when we first got engaged which I absolutely fell in love with which none of the others I saw compared too. The designer was in Melbourne, we ended up on a few mother and daughter trips, it was a great way to get a lot of the wedding shopping out of the way too.
What flowers did you carry? Orange calla lilies, simple but stunning.
What did you do on the morning of your wedding day? It was an early morning with four bridesmaids that needed hair and makeup. After having a soak in the bath tub I just sat around with the girls drinking champagne, chatting, singing along to video hits the usual stuff you do with your girlfriends.
What were the first words your dad said to you when he saw you in your wedding dress? He said "Wow love you look beautiful"
How did you decorate your wedding ceremony? We kept it simple, minimal chairs with white covers, orange sashes with bouquets of dried wheat at the back, the chairs were only for the older people, the beach is such a beautiful backdrop why would you need anything else.
What were you thinking about as you walked to your wedding ceremony towards Adi? I was actually quite nervous which is very strange for me, not about marrying Adi but more to do with falling over while walking down the aisle there is a steep walk down to the beach. So I was probably thinking about not falling over to start with but once I saw Adi looking at me everything was fine.
Describe what happened at your ceremony? One of the things that stands out the most about our ceremony was when we were married and we had our first kiss everyone started clapping and our dog (who walked down the aisle with me too) started to bark at the exact same moment, you could not have planned it better, it was priceless.
Did you say traditional vows to one another or write your own? We wrote our own, it made it so much more meaningful.
How much time did you give for wedding photos? We gave about 3 hours..
Why did you choose Flutes Restaurant as your wedding venue? We both feel in love with Flutes the moment we walked in. There prices are reasonable and you get great quality food.
How did you decorate your wedding venue? We sourced a heap of recycled old fowlers jars, three to a table one with three calla lilies and the other two with bundles of dried wheat. We also had lots of different sized tea lights.
What was the style of your wedding reception - cocktail, sit down etc? We had fully served sit down meal.
What happened at your reception? We danced for hours after the formalities everyone was on the dance floor all night.
What was your first dance song? Beloved one, Ben Harper.
Best moment of your wedding day? All of it! Obviously the best moment is the moment you say I do, but I had a ball the entire time.
What were the bombonnieres for your guests? The boys received a metal ID luggage tag and the girls a hand bag holder and chocolates.
Your wedding photographer was Lloyd Smith Photography what made you initially choose Steve and Steph and now that you look at your wedding photos are you happy with these? We just clicked with Steve and Steph they are great people, with such wonderful personalities and we really loved their work. Adi and I aren't very serious people and we were able to really have a laugh with them which was important.
How do you feel now that your wedding is over? First I felt relieved, then after a few weeks when we came back to reality a little sad and now we are focusing on different goals.
Were did you honeymoon? We stayed at a beautiful resort on Kata Beach in Phuket, we had a pool access villa it was amazing, now the big honey moon is coming South America for five weeks in January 2012 we cant wait.
Advice for other planning brides: Relax and enjoy every minute of it there is a lot of organizing and it is a long day but it goes by so quickly, take a moment during your day just to take it all in.
When you look back what would you have done differently on your wedding day? I would have had one person from my bridal party in the same car as us, I had difficulty getting in and out of the Mustang with just Adi (you know what boys are like) so would have been great to have one of my bridesmaids there. Thank god Steph was there from Lloyd Smith Photography I could not have done it without all her help.. |
