How long had you and Steven been together before you decided to get married?

2.5 years.

Who helped you plan your wedding day?
My mum and Wayne Stubbs.

How long did you give for planning your wedding day?
We were engaged at least 8 months before, but I started planning it with only 3 months to go.

What was the theme and colour scheme for your wedding and what did it say about you both?
It was outdoorsy with “market food stall’s” very casual with lots of lounge areas and candles. We wanted a laid back wedding that guest’s could mingle with each other easily.

Where did you get inspiration and ideas for your wedding decor?
I had a picture in my head of what I wanted and Wayne made it come to life. Being an Event Manager and having done many, many weddings in the past, I knew exactly what I didn't want anyway.

What was the hardest part to plan for your wedding?
I am the event co-ordinator at Wills Domain which we were in the middle of wedding season, so trying to find a date that was free and still good weather was extremely hard for my own wedding.

What services couldn't you get in the Southwest that had to come from Perth?
I could have sourced everything from the Southwest but as I was so busy it was easier to hand over to Wayne Stubbs so he brought down catering, staging, marquee etc from Perth as he had worked with these companies before.

How many guests did you have at your wedding?
165.

How did you include family and friends in your wedding day?
I asked 7 people that were important to me in my life to each hand me a flower as I walked down the aisle. Steve handed me my final flower and this made up my bouquet. We asked my brother and Steve’s sister to each do a reading at the ceremony as well.

How was the process of choosing your wedding dress?
I went to 3 different shops and thought that I had found one that I liked. Then I went to one last place at the end of the day and actually found “the one”.

Was your wedding dress comfortable for the whole day?
Yes it was.

What have you done with your wedding dress now after your wedding?
I had it dry-cleaned and boxed up.

Did you wear any family air looms?
My late grandmother’s pearl earrings were stitched onto my wedding dress and I wore my other grandmother’s ring.

What flowers did you carry?
I started with a pink carnation in memory of my late grandmother and collected orchids from guest’s on the way down the aisle.

You looked like you had only one bridesmaid and a groomsman, why?
It was easier to organise and it got to a point that it would either be 1 or 4 each. They are also the closest people to both of us.

What time did you start preparing?
I started getting ready about 11am.

Why did you choose a beach wedding ceremony?
I've always wanted a casual beach ceremony and Dunsborough is the perfect place for this.

What time was your ceremony?
It started at 4pm.

What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and Steven went off and had wedding photos?
Guest’s were bussed back to Aqua Resort in Busselton where they had drinks and canapes out on the beach.

Where did you go for wedding photos?
We stayed at Castle Rock and then went up to Wills Domain for some vineyard shots.

Why did you choose Aqua Resort as your wedding venue?
We wanted a spot that guest’s didn't have to travel to & from. The rooms are stunning and great for family’s as they are self contained. Aqua was very accommodating and allowed us to bring in everything from equipment to caterers and alcohol, which worked well for us being in the hospitality industry.

What food was served at the reception?
We had different stalls around that guest’s could help themselves to. There was a seafood, wok station, roast meat/carvery and curry station. Then these were turned into a cheese station and a dessert station later in the night.

Describe the look and flavor of your cake, plus any other desserts that were served?
The cake was a rocky road cake. I am a huge chocolate fan! It looked more like a mountain than a cake. We smashed it with a hammer.
The food stalls we changed over to a cheese station and a dessert station with mini lemon tarts.

Where did you spend your wedding night?
At Aqua Resort, we then went to Bunker Bay Resort for 3 nights as we weren't leaving for our honeymoon for over a month.

How did you feel weeks after your wedding, where you kind of lost because you weren't planning it anymore?
No, I was still flat out trying to finish the season with Wills Domain weddings.

Were did you honeymoon and what did you do?
We honeymooned in Thailand. Patong, Phuket first for shopping and catching up with friends, then a week at the Banyan Tree in Laguna where there was a spa for me and golf course for Steve and then a week at the Rasananda on Koh Phangan which was purely relaxing.

Why didn't you have your wedding at your workplace?
I did contemplate it as it is a beautiful location, but I thought that I would never relax and it would still feel like “work”.

When you look back what would you have done differently on your wedding day?
I would have liked to have had more time leading up to it. I was so busy that I didn't really get to focus on my own wedding until it was a few days before. It just all went so by so quickly, I have fantastic memories and great photos to look back on.
