Why did you choose Busselton as the place for you and Sean to get married? We wanted something local with a country theme as we couldn't have it on the family property. Wonnerup house was a beautiful quiet bush setting just us, our guests, the cows and the flies.
How many people were in your bridal party? Just Sean and I, plus my niece and nephew.
Was there any time throughout your wedding planning that you felt stressed? Yes, but that’s not unusual. With Sean working away it was sometime quite difficult to get things done as he wanted to know and play a major role in the planning of the wedding. Wanting it to be perfect yet reflect our wishes of a fabulous fun day.
Who helped you to plan your wedding? Sean and Helen with some wonderful input from our close friends and family.
How much time did you give to plan your wedding? 6 months.
What was the theme and colour scheme for your wedding? Black and white with a splash of lime green.
What was the hardest part to plan for your wedding? Getting ready – I knew I had not much control over the rest of the day! It would just happen and when I’d said I do… not much else mattered!
Did you have a budget for your wedding and did you stick to it? Yes.
How many guests did you have at your wedding? 104.
Details about your dress and attire: This was a very special time with my mum and my sister in law helping me to choose this dress. My boss looked after it for me as I couldn't leave it at home. This was a stressful time for him as he tells me the responsibility was enormous – especially when the Margaret River Bush Fires were coming – he said it even made it into his emergency evacuation plans.
Who went with you shopping for your wedding dress? My mum and sister in law.
When did you start looking for your wedding dress? May 2011.
What flowers did you carry? Beautiful ones including roses, peonies, chrysanthemums, roses, freesias, green sprite dianthus, lisianthus and berries.. stunning.. I've dried and kept it.
Tell me about the running of the day what time did you start preparing etc? A easy day really, up far too early of course – breakfast with my family and then off to the hair dressers with my mum and back in time for a champagne. What were the first words your mum and dad said to you when they saw you in your wedding dress? Shed a few tears..
What items did you have to hire for your wedding ceremony decor? Wonnerup House provided – red carpet, seating for 40 guests, signing table, etc.
Did you say traditional vows to one another or write your own? Bit of both.
What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and your husband went off and had wedding photos? Nibbles and champagne of course.
What happened at your reception? Our friends that we worked with in Europe bought back some funny stories and described how Sean and I met in Greece in 2007. It was over a dance at a Traditional Greek Taverna where we had taken our clients. A dance which involves placing a potato between your foreheads and not touching it and doing some moves without letting the potato drop. We had to perform a demonstration. Very funny and bought back wonderful memories..
Were you happy with the style of catering at your reception? Fabulous well balanced local style meals – elements which appealed to many palates.
Best moment of your wedding day? Having my husband next to me and all the beaming faces at the wedding. Kissing my husband.
Flavor of your cake? White and chocolate mud cake. DIVINE..
What were the bonbonnieres for your guests? None – we spent extra money on quality wine and extra guests.
Did you make anything for your wedding? Centrepieces, table settings and special poems for tables.
Your wedding photographer was Pete from Real Image Photography how did he perform on the day? He was spectacular.. very professional yet fun and comforting in what was the biggest day of our lives. He’s a friend which made it fun – yet he wouldn't give anything away to Sean which I appreciated. His work is superb and second to none. I cannot wait to share our photos with everyone and keep a record of our very special day forever.
How do you feel now that your wedding is over? Like I’d do it again in a heartbeat – but with the same husband!!
Were did you honeymoon? We went to Europe for 4 weeks. Saw friends in the UK and then flew to Germany where we hired a car and drove to all the very small towns along the Romantic Route.
When you look back what would you have done differently on your wedding day? Had it longer!
Any special mentions about your wedding suppliers? Everyone from Siobhan the make up artist to hair dressers and the dance floor and caterers were extremely accommodating. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Garry Conway and his staff at Broadwater Beach Resort and all the way through to the staff at Wonnerup. My friend did my flowers and everything was spectacular. |
