Kate and Cory - Interview with the Bride

What was the theme for your wedding?
Pilbara colours - burnt orange and earthy tones.

How many guests did you have?
Around 90.

Where did you get inspiration for ideas for your wedding?
I grew up in the Pilbara North West of WA and love the beautiful colours.

How long did you take to organize your wedding?
Some bookings were made 12 month in advance, but the rest was organised in the months leading up to the wedding.

When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
My mum found it! I was living in Kalgoorlie at the time and was searching on the internet for dresses and found one I liked. Mum went to have a look and found a different dress in the front window that she knew I would love. I tried it on, on our next commute to Perth and loved it.

Who made the decisions about the groom and grooms party attire?
The groom and his groomsmen chose their suits. When purchasing the bridesmaids dresses I arranged for the ties to be made in the same colours and material's to match.

What flowers did you carry?
Calla Lillies – they are such an elegant flower. I had orange and the very last cream ones of the season.

What time was your ceremony and why?
4.30pm – the ceremony and reception were at the same venue so that timing worked in well.

Describe what happened at your wedding ceremony
It rained! But aside from that it was beautiful, my dad walked me down the aisle and the whole ceremony went perfectly. We had two very specials friends that weren’t on the bridal party as the witnesses to the marriage.

What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and Cory went off and had wedding photos?
Everyone enjoyed canapés and drinks on the balcony of Wise Winery.

What did you love about your ceremony and venue that was specific only to that place and made you choose as your location?
The view – you can see both the ocean and the vineyard.

Was there anything else special about the day apart from marrying Cory?
A highlight was to have my grandparents and Cory’s, Grandmother there to celebrate it with us.

What food was served at the reception?
A variety of mains including duck, steak and fish it was delicious food and the service was impeccable at Wise Winery.

What were the bombonieres for your guests?
For gifts we got candles made with rich, red Pilbara sand as the base and a white scented wax on top in a square glass holder, they were wrapped in individual gift bags.

Why did you choose John Kuppens Photography as your wedding photographer?
I got a referral from my Auntie, and have since made many referrals to others about him – the photos were amazing.

Were did you honeymoon?
Kota Kinabula - Malaysia

How do you feel now that your wedding is over?
Happily Married!
