Helen and Graeme - Interview with the Bride

How long have you and Graeme been together and when did you decide to get married?
18 years – May 2009 we were teenage sweethearts

 You and Graeme have only been in Australia for a couple of years why did you choose Margaret River as your wedding destination?
We went to watch Chris Isaac at Leeuwin Concert and fell in love with the South West, the area is so beautiful.

What was the theme and colour scheme for your wedding
We visited Hey Shed Hill and they had beautiful yellow roses in the gardens which gave me the idea to use yellow and a 1940's theme.

Where did you get inspiration for ideas for your wedding?
Wedding magazines and websites.

What was the hardest part to plan for your wedding?
The Order Of Service.

How many guests did you have at your wedding?
55.

Details about your dress and attire:
Vintage style, silk with lace overlay gold thread woven through lots of sparkle, fitted to suit my figure.

When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
August 2009.

What flowers did you carry?
Tight hand tied posy of lemon and white roses with frangipani and diamonte running through with fine beaded grass.

Tell me about the running of the day what time did you start preparing etc?
Started Preparation at 9am, Groom 11am !!

Church Service 1pm – 1.45pm

Photos Outside Till 2.15pm

Bride & Groom to Gracetown Beach with Photographer

Guests with Videographer and other Photographer to Hayshed Hill for wine tasting, games, canapés etc

Bride & Groom Arrive at HSH 4pm for photos with guests

Speeches 5.30pm – 6pm

Cut the cake then sit down meal till 7.30pm

Dancing with Break for toasts till 11pm finish

Describe what happened at your ceremony:
Conventional Catholic Service with 2 readings and music provided by Helen’s brother David.

What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and your husband went off and had wedding photos?
They had wine tastings, Ozzie V’s Pomes cricket, canapés wine and beer on the lawn the owner of Hay Shed Hill daughter took the children for a lovely tour of the grounds visiting all the animals along the way. Also Murray one of John Kuppens photographers was with our guests so we could see after the event what happened while we were away.

Why did choose Hay shed Hill Winery as your wedding venue?
It is such a beautiful winery, great wine, food and the owners/staff are fantastic people.

What happened at your reception?
Speeches under the trees with father of the bride giving a speech as well as best men before, food, toasts and dancing to the Skiffle Billy’s.

Best moment of your wedding day?
Exchanging Vows.

Describe the look and flavor of your cake, plus any other desserts that were served:
Circular centre cake with 6 Heart Shaped cakes around, Frangipani and matching shade of yellow as theme. Was a mixture of chocolate and fruit cake with a “kitchen cake” as back up. This was served as our dessert.

What were the bombonieres for your guests?
Glass Jars with specially made rock candy.

Your wedding photographer was John Kuppens Photography what made you initially choose John and how did he perform on the day?
First impressions always count, he put us at ease and gave us the confidence that he would give us the best Photos, his local knowledge of where to be due to the weather conditions was a major plus. We thoroughly enjoyed our photos , John and his team were awesome we couldn’t have been more impressed and happy with his service.

How do you feel now that your wedding is over?
Want to do it again!!

Where did you honeymoon?
We went to UK for 4 weeks

Advice for other planning brides?
Take your time, enjoy the process don’t stress.

When you look back what would you have done differently on your wedding day?
Nothing it was perfect.
