Tahnee and Jonnathon - Interview with the Bride

How long have you and Jonathon been together and when did you decide to get married?
We have been together for 3 and a half years now. I was kind of hinting, as in looking at rings in the windows but we both are in a committed relationship, this was the next step that we wanted.

What was the theme and colour scheme for your wedding?
The colour scheme was red and white, red being my favourite colour, and the theme was traditional.

What was the hardest part to plan for your wedding?

Trying to organise the time to do things as we both work full time.

How many guests did you have at your wedding?
There were 60 guests all up, including the bridal table.Details about your dress and attire –

It was a strapless dress with bead/pearl detail on the front and back, and chiffon at the bottom/underneath.

When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
About a year before the wedding! The dress I ended up getting was actually the second one I had tried on.

What flowers did you carry?
A posy of red roses, artificial so they last forever!

Describe what happened at your ceremony –
It was a garden ceremony with a lake. We also did a sand ceremony, each pouring a colour of sand into one vase (red and white); meaning two unite and become one, with the grains of sand being impossible to separate, like us.

What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and Jonnathon went off and had wedding photos?
They went out and had drinks together.

Did you make anything for your wedding?
We made our invitations from scratch.

Why did you choose The Atrium Hotel as your wedding venue?
Well my mum actually had her wedding reception there, and I thought it was amazing, so I really wanted mine there too.

What happened at your reception any memorable moments?
My cousin had actually turned 18 on that night, and Jonnathon and I said happy birthday to him in our speech and made everyone sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him. Also my nanna is a huge fan of the Collingwood Magpies (AFL team), and because they won the grand final, we had the DJ play their team song and My brother, nanna and I all got up and danced and sang along to it! She loved it.

What food was served at the reception?
It was a buffet, so there were heaps of different foods; salads, roast, soup, veggies, meat and because I am a vegetarian they had even made a special meal just for me, and also my cousin has a special dietary requirement as well and they made her a special meal too which was really good!

Best moment of your wedding day?
Marrying my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, and love, and being apart of each others family, officially!

Describe the look and flavor of your cake, plus any other desserts that were served.
Our cake was a squared 2 tiered cake. It was white with red and white cut out hearts placed on the top tier, and red and white swirly hearts on the bottom tier. It had red and silver lace around the bottom edge of both tiers, and we had a teddy bear cake topper! It was mud cake (my favourite)! We served it as coffee slices and had they put in cake bags for our guests to eat whenever. There was also fruit and pavlova.

What were the bombonieres for your guests?
Roses chocolates, everyone loves those!

Your wedding photographer was Carmel Trease Photography what made you initially choose Carmel to be your wedding photographer?
Her price and the package, plus we received a CD from her with all our photographs on it, so we can do whatever we want with them! And also when we met her the first time to discuss what she covers, she was so nice and easy to get along with.

What was your bridal waltz song?
Your Guardian Angel – Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. I’ve always loved that song.

How do you feel now that your wedding is over?
In a way relieved as there is no more organising things or paying anything off. We can start our married life now.

Were did you honeymoon?
We went to Melbourne. We both love going there, so it was an easy choice for us!

Advice for other planning brides:
Well the advice that I was told a lot was: take the day as it comes, don’t think or stress about anything, even if something happens don’t worry about, there are other people that can sort it out. The day is about you two and it is true, the day will go quick so cherish every moment. And also try to start organising things early; it will make your life a lot easier.

When you look back what would you have done differently on your wedding day?
To be honest there’s not much I would change.
