You had a pre-wedding photo shoot, why? We thought it would be a nice to have some pictures of us before we were married to be able to show our future children.
Was their any significance to why you picked the date to your wedding day? Grand final weekend was when Chris and I met 7 years previously. It was also the same weekend that Chris and I got engaged 1 year previously!
Why did you choose the Swan Valley as your wedding destination? We liked the idea of good food, good wine & a nice relaxing atmosphere that a vineyard would offer and also somewhere that wasn't too far for our guests to travel.
What was the theme and colour scheme for your wedding? I didn't really have a specific theme but I went for a steel/charcoal/blue & orange/salmon colours.
Where did you get inspiration for your wedding? Mainly from magazines or online wedding websites
What was the hardest part to plan for your wedding? $$$$BUDGET & deciding how much to spend on things & then trying to stick to it!
How many guests did you have at your wedding? 115
Details about your dress and attire: My dress design was originally based on a design from Collezione, however I had a holiday planned to Vietnam earlier in the year so I had the dress made while there. The dress required alterations & some minor changes that a dressmaker did for me in Perth.
When did you start looking for your wedding dress? About 9 or 10 months before the wedding
What flowers did you carry? White tulips with some green berries
How did you feel before the ceremony? I was very excited, not nervous at all! I couldn't wait to get to the church, walk down the isle & see Chris.
Describe what happened at your ceremony: We had the usual church ceremony but what made it quite entertaining was my 2 1/2 yr old flowergirl... she helped my bridesmaids to staighten out my train & provide some light entertainment for the congregation by standing inbetween Chris & myself just before we said our vows!
What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and your husband went off and had wedding photos? Some of our guests went to the Burswood for refreshments
Did you use transport to transfer your guests from the church and then to the Black Swan Winery? Yes we had a double decker bus transport our guest from the Burswood to the Black Swan & back again afterwards
Why did choose Black Swan Winery as your wedding venue? The food is delicious, the restaurant & views out to the vineyard are beautiful, good ambiance & they had a very good wedding package. The restaurant manager Robyn was very friendly & professional. Her experience & confidence in hosting functions at the Black Swan assured us our night would run without a hitch.
What happened at your reception? The night began with predinner drinks out on the lawn (my favourite part of the evening) where guests mingled & enjoyed canapes & drinks at sunset. After moving inside we began the speeches & the more formal part of the evening. My dad's speech was quite original as he gave Chris a little quiz & presented him with a cerfificate at the end to welcome him into our family! The best mans speech was also very original & funny, taking on the AFL footy show theme! Chris & myself gave a combined speech where we were able to personally thank our parents & close friends.
What food was served at the reception? Entree: Totato tart or Asian braised pork belly with scallop Main: Atlantic Salmon or Angus Beef Dessert: Panna cotta with berry coulis
Best moment of your wedding day? Walking down the isle seeing everyone you love in the one place & seeing Chris waiting for me at the end of the isle
Describe the look and flavor of your cake? We had a square 3 tier white mud raspberry cake with white chocolat ganache. The cake was decorated with steel blue ribbon in a criss-cross pattern & 2 single orange tulips.
What were the bombonieres for your guests? Miniature white tin pails filled with peanut butter lindt balls & Reese's peanut butter cups!
Lighthouse by Cyrus was your wedding photographer what was it about Cyrus that made you choose him? We had seen Cyrus in action at my cousin's wedding & were very impressed by the quality of his work, his professional attidude, reliability, passion for photography & his ability to capture (literally) every moment of the special day. We knew by choosing Cyrus as our photographer we were guarenteed to be 100% happy with our photographs.
Were there any wedding-related events that followed the wedding and reception? Does the bus ride home count?? There was alot of singing, drinking & noise coming from the upstairs of the double decker bus! A couple of days after the wedding my parents had a BBQ for all of the family (from both sides) to farewell our overseas guest that had travelled from Canada & the UK to be here for the wedding!
Were did you honeymoon? We spent 1 week in Penang & 1 week in Langkawi- heaven!
Advice for other planning brides: Try to be as organised as you can so that as the day gets closer you can enjoy the excitement & the lead up to your special day, instead of being stressed out & having to rush around. Also be prepared that weddings are expensive....accept & plan for the fact that you may go a little over budget.
When you look back what was the best memory from the day? It is really hard to just choose one memory....I loved getting ready with my bridesmaids, I loved arriving at the church & seeing Chris, I loved being introduced as the new Mrs Sciortino at the reception, I loved the speeches & I loved having all my family & friends together in the one room celebrating our special day!
What are your plans for the future? We are planning to go on holiday (somewhere) next year before thinking about starting a family.
