Sian and Rhys - Interview with the Bride

How long have you and Rhys been together and when did you decide to get married?
Since March 2008. Rhys proposed in Barcelona in September 2008.

What was the theme and colour scheme for your wedding?
Vintage & elegant with cream neutral colours.

How many guests did you have at your wedding?
100.

Details about your dress and attire:
Beata from Chein Noir Designs was amazing. We put our heads together to design my dress. It was perfect and exactly what I wanted. Beata is extremely talented.

When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
I started looking for ideas almost straight away. But Beata only started my dress 8 weeks before the wedding day to try and get my measurements as accurate as possible because I was losing my baby weight from having our daughter in June 2010.

How many people and who was in your bridal party?
Just Rhys and I.

So, you didn’t have a bridal party who witnessed your marriage?
My sister, Kristen signed for me and Rhys' best mate Brad signed for him.

Hardest part to plan for your wedding?
We were really lucky, all the people we chose for our wedding- our celebrant, photographer, florist, etc. It was only hard trying to find the time getting down south to visit them all with a new baby and Rhys working away.

What flowers did you carry (fresh or silk)?
Fresh orchids

Tell me about the running of the day what time did you start preparing etc?
I had a very relaxing morning with my mum and dad and my good friend Michelle. We cracked the first bottle of bubbles at 11am when I started to have my hair done. I was ready at 3pm. The ceremony started at 4pm.

Describe what happened at your ceremony:
I felt quite overwhelmed with emotion when I was in the car. And I shed a little tear when I got out of the car & saw our daughter all dressed up with my mother in law. Then walking down the aisle with my dad was very special. I felt so happy, relieved and comfortable when I was finally standing at the front holding Rhys' hand. We had 2 readings read by my good friend, and Rhys' sister. A few tears were shed during the vows, it was beautiful and full of emotion. And we were so happy with our celebrant Jemilah Wright.

What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and your husband went off and had wedding photos?
They had drinks and canapes on the verandah.

Where did you go for wedding photos?
Eagle Bay beach, and the vineyards at Wise.

Why did you choose Wise Winery as your wedding venue?
It's a beautiful setting with the ocean in the back ground. And they were really helpful when we first met with them which gave us a great impression.

What were your table and venue decorations?
Large martini vases with orchids.

What happened at your reception?
Our speeches were great, full of laughs. Everyone was dancing all night, we had so many people tell us it was the best wedding they had been to.

What food was served at the reception?
A mixture of different canapes. A choice of a herb crusted fish or sirloin steak for main. Wedding cup cakes for dessert with berries and cream.

Best moment of your wedding day?
Can't choose, I loved it all!!

I loved your cake describe the look and flavor, plus any other desserts that were served?
We had a tower of chocolate cup cakes in filligree cases with white and milk chocolate curls on top.

Did you save the top tier for your first year wedding anniversary?
No, we shared it with our friends over the next few days.

What were the bombonieres for your guests?
Stubby holders with a characature of Rhys and I on them.

You must be impressed with your wedding photos from Real Image Photography Sian they look stunning?
Pete was fantastic. He made me feel very comfortable.  And what was better he wasn't in our faces taking shots, I felt like I didnt know where he was most of the time! He was there the whole day from start to finish which was great, he took so many shots.

How do you feel now that your wedding is over?
I just want to re-live the day again.

Were did you honeymoon?
We are going overseas this year to UK and Europe.

Advice for other planning brides:
Enjoy all of it, especially the planning because the day comes and goes so fast.

When you look back what would you have done differently on your wedding day?
Nothing, it was perfect.
