Who helped you to plan your wedding? My Mum she did it all.
How much time did you give yourself to plan your wedding? One year.
What was the theme and colour scheme for your wedding? Simple, white silver and lots of flowers.
Where did you get inspiration for ideas for your wedding? Always knew what I wanted, something friendly, classy and inviting.
What was the hardest part to plan for your wedding? The layout of the floor plan for the venue.
Was planning a guest list easy or hard and how many people attended? Easy! To a point we had 120 people attend out wedding. All close family and friends.
Did you have a wedding budget and did you stick to it? We stuck to it and only went over slightly!
Details about your dress and attire: My dress was by Zanzis. It was a beautifully made and designed dress. I wanted something simple, and not too busy. The dress was fitted beautifully Jen at Zanzis did a fantastic job and I felt like a princess in my dress all night. It was so comfortable.
How many dresses did you try on to find the one you wore on your wedding? I tried on around 8 dresses and when I got to Zanzis it was the second dress I tried on!! I loved it.
What have you done with your wedding dress? Still waiting for it to be dry cleaned.
What flowers did you and your bridesmaid’s carry? Roses, orchids and frangipani.
Did you make anything for your wedding? No.
Tell me about the running of the day what time did you start preparing etc? Day started at about 10am with the hairdresser and make up artist coming at the same time. I got my hair set first then the bridesmaids and my mum and mother in law. Then it was onto the makeup. The wedding kicked off at 4pm but I was already at the venue as it was at my parents house so I was upstairs getting ready while all the guest's and groomsmen arrived. I think I walked down the aisle at about 4:15pm.
What kind of a wedding ceremony did you have? It was a catholic ceremony. We got married out the front of my parent's beach house. My Mum had organsied a marquee for the day. We wanted to cover all bases in case it got really hot and we needed shade or it happened to rain and we needed cover! It ended up being great, a little warm but the sides of the marquee could open so we had a nice breeze flowing though! We made it really cosy with flowers and candles and rose petals on the ground and a big table which symbolised an alter to some extent. Our priest actually said it was so beautiful and spiritual it reminded him of a chapel.
What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and Ryan went off and had wedding photos? We had champagne and beer on the grass for an hour while we had family photos then the guest's went back to the hotel/bar and mingled while we finished our photos.
Where did you have wedding photos in Mandurah? Out the front of the beach house and then at the Sebel hotel and out the front on the waters edge.
Why did choose The Sebel Hotel as your wedding venue? It is new and I loved the venue. It was close to where the ceremony was taking place and it had a great outlook over the water. The staff were also excellent to deal with.
What happened at your reception? Our reception was cocktail. We had pre drinks first then the doors opened at 6:30pm and we arrived about 6:50pm or so... we each came in separately to some cool music doing silly little gestures as each couple came through the door but it was a bit of fun and it got the crowd in the mood! We cut our cake as soon as we came in pretty much to get it out the way. Then the music went on and we didn't do anything until the speeches at 8pm. We had 2 speeches then a break then the last 3 speeches. Toast's were said by both dad’s and then Ryan’s brother Sean and my sister Paige and then Ryan and I did a speech together as well. There were some great stories and the DJ was fantastic so the dancing was happening all night. He catered for young and all. We had 2 games as well for the ladies and men. Which were loads of fun and broke the night up and got everyone laughing. About 9pm we had our bridal waltz which was awesome. Then we played 2 games around 10pm and then it was dancing and fun till 12pm when Ryan and I left!! It was such an unreal wedding and party we didn't want to leave.
What was your bridal waltz song? Smile by Uncle Cracker.
What style of food was served at your wedding reception? Cocktail - fingers food. Things like boxes of fish and chips, stir fry, noodles box, satay sticks etc.
Best moment of your wedding day? Walking down the aisle and seeing Ryan and all of my family and friends. Along with having my wedding photos taken with the bridal party that was heaps of fun and that’s when the party started. Also I loved our speeches they were excellent!
Describe the look and flavour of your cake? The look of our cake was simple. Frangipani flowers on it with a whipped cream appearance. It was a chocolate and vanilla cake and was so tasty. Everyone complemented on how good it tasted.
What were the bombonieres for your guests? My Mum found in a shop in Melbourne all of these little frangipani soaps, when she was over there. So we had a bowl filled with them near the door with a little flyer attached to them saying ‘a gift for you’.
Your wedding photographer was Cyrus from Lighthouse Photography what made you initially choose Cyrus and how did he perform on the day? We saw some of his work in magazines and liked what we saw. His pre wedding shots were fantastic also. The pictures from the day were excellent. My only wish was that I had been a little more onto the order of photos being taken as I had no immediate family photos taken at the wedding of my family, which would have been nice and no front on photos of me walking down the aisle. But apart from that I am really happy with the shots and how they turned out.
Where did you stay on your wedding night? We stayed in the suite at the Sebel. It was an unreal room with great views and loads of room.
Top tip for other brides planning their wedding day? Just keep it simple and enjoy the process and try have someone to help you along the way, don’t try and do it all on your own. I could see how people get to stressed out by the whole process and don’t enjoy the lead up to it. |
