Why did you choose the Santa Maria College for your wedding ceremony? Being married in a Catholic Church was important to Steven and I. Santa Maria’s Chapel was special to me because I attended high school and boarded there for 2 year's.
Tell me about the running of the day what time did you start preparing etc? We woke at 7am by my mother running around the house excitedly yelling “its wedding day, its wedding day”. We then showered and went to a local café for breastfast. The hair and make up team arrived at 8am on the dot. The preparation ran smoothly. And every one gathered excitedly when Jess arrived at 12noon with the flowers, to view the unveiling. The photography team was at the house a bit before Jess. We started dressing at 1pm, and arrived at the Chapel only 15 mins late after a lot of photos and fluffing and a few tears.
Describe what happened at your ceremony? Our ceremony was a traditional catholic ceremony with all our special family and my best friend Kathryn doing the reading and prayers. I wrote the prayers of the faithful and blessed our parents, friends and family and prayed for a good season. Our ceremony also included a candle ceremony which included – our parents lighting their family candles and then once we are married we lit our family candle and this symbolized the beginning of a new family.
Why did you choose Peel Manor House as your wedding venue? Peel Manor House was our perfect venue as it gave us the privacy and space we wanted. We wanted it to be just our guests and the home had a lovely country feel about it. Our guests spoke about how beautiful the ground's were for weeks.
How did you decorate your wedding ceremony and reception? Jesse Anne did all the decorating for the ceremony and the reception. The table's were exactly what we wanted elegant and simple. We wanted to find a way to incorporate the various family farm names instead of table numbers but didn’t want it to look tacky. Jess came up with the idea of using simple silver photo frames and inserting the farm names with a brief history about them, using the same stationary.
Did you make anything for your wedding? All the stationary was hand done, mainly by Steven’s Mum and Steven’s eldest’s sister as she is a wiz on the computer.
A mention for something special happening at your reception? We had beautiful speeches and that really made it for us.
Your Bridal waltz song? Louis Armstrong – “ what a wonderful world”
Best moment of your wedding day? It was the best day of our lives.
What were the bombonieres for your guests? Chocolate Promotions made us engraved chocolates with our names and the date of the wedding on these.
Your wedding photographer was Cyrus from Lighthouse by Cyrus because you and Steven had a pre-wedding photo shoot do you think that made you feel more comfortable in front of the camera on your wedding day? With out a doubt. The pre wedding photos were done on the farm and they were just so beautiful. I think especially for Steven it made a big difference.
Are you happy with your wedding photos? YES, YES, YES. We loved them so much, there was a really good mix of fun ones, wall portrait ones and Cyrus captured people’s reaction to the speeches that we missed. We highly recommend Cyrus, in fact our best man just had him do their wedding in March.
I see you had a videographer why and have you seen the video? We got the video back recently. It was amazing I can’t recommend Hugh enough – especially because he works so well with Cyrus they were not fighting to get the shot. They co-operated really well. It was amazing watching the day again – You miss so much.
Were did you honeymoon? We only just got back from our honeymoon. We had to postpone it until February. Being farmers we had export hay to bale and cart in October then Harvest. We went to Phuket and had a well deserved rest and relax.
Advice for other planning brides: Have fun and be proud of what you organized. It takes a lot of work and planning but it will pay off, don’t be too hard on your self.
When you look back what would you have done differently on your wedding day? Nothing at all the day went so well. WE loved every moment. |
