Why did you pick January as the month to get married?

It was convenient in our schedules.

Why did you have a beach style wedding ceremony?
It suited us as we like the beach and outdoor lifestyle.

Who was in your bridal party?
Paulina, Donna, Alisha, Jason, Simon, Chris and Craig.

What was the hardest part to plan for your wedding?
Deciding on the menu and drinks.

Did you have a budget and did you stick to it?
Kind of we stayed in the boundaries we set.

What was the one thing you weren’t going to comprise on for your wedding?
We wanted to be true to ourselves and not get wrapped up in the wedding hype and over the top expectations.

How many guests did you have at your wedding?
70.

When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
September 2010.

What flowers did you carry?
White Lithuania, brazil nuts and assorted floral fillers.

Tell me about the running of the day what time did you start preparing etc?
Up at 8am and for make up and hair. Everyone – bridal party, friends and family came to our unit and got ready. Then the bridal party was ready by 2pm for photos at the venue and then we went to Canal Rocks for photos before the wedding. Dave and I married on Smiths beach at 4pm.

When you started walking past everyone to arrive at your wedding ceremony how were you feeling?
Ok. My feet got a little caught up in the hoop of my dress and I was a little distracted just trying not to fall over in the sand.

What was the first thing you thought of when you saw Dave waiting for you on the beach?
He looks nervous.

What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and Dave went off and had wedding photos?
We all went for pre dinner drinks and canapés at ‘The Bouzy Bar’.

Where did you go for wedding photos?
Canal Rocks.

Why did you both choose Smith Beach Resort as your wedding venue?
It was the first venue we visited after doing a fair amount of internet research. It was a wonderful location with an all inclusive venue (accommodation, venues for both wedding and reception). We wanted it to be a wedding weekend with it being an opportunity to catch up with friends and family that had travelled from over east and overseas for the wedding.

How did you decorate you reception?
The venue did it for us. We just provided all of the items. We had green organza table runners with square glass tealight candle holders and white cylindrical lanterns on the tables that complemented the existing lights in the venue.

What happened at your reception? Any funny or meaningful stories?
Very informal. We started with a fun game-‘Was it Bec or Dave?’ where each table was given a moment in our history, and they had to figure out who was the person involved: who did it was it Dave or myself. Then the night was pretty normal with a few speeches and dancing.

Who caught the bouquet?
I passed it on to the person in our circle of friends- Kirsty-Lee, that is to be married next.

Best moment of your wedding day?
Just actually getting married.

Describe the look and flavor of your cake, plus any other desserts that were served?
Didn’t have one. We had a flourless chocolate cake already portioned for desert.

Did you make anything for your wedding?
We did all of the placecards and invites and we put the lanterns together for the table settings.

What were the bombonieres for your guests?
Stubby holders and scratchies.

Where did you spend your wedding night?
At Smiths Beach Resort.

How do you feel now that your wedding is over?
Glad.

Were did you honeymoon?
Haven’t yet but planning on escaping the Winter and going diving somewhere tropical.

Advice for other planning brides
Pick what you want, not what other people tell you you should pick. Slow down and take snap shots of your day.

When you look back what would you have done differently on your wedding day?
I’m not sure I would choose the buffet option for the dinner element. The food was lovely and it achieved what we wanted (a social atmosphere where people weren’t bound to their chairs) but it was almost a little too casual.
