Emma & Adam's Bunbury Wedding: Love Is All That Matters
Interview with the Bride
We got engaged on the 20th March 2015, so that gave us nearly a year to plan our special day.
We didn't set a budget, we just saved and worked around what we could afford and what we couldn't. We would allocate money every week to pay suppliers and used money schedules to make sure everything got paid on time.
We had 115 guests. We only had one child attend, our flower girl Stella, and she was easily entertained by family.
Adam organised the ceremony setup before as well as on the day, and the boys suits.
We got the groomsmen personalised boxes with a small bottle of alcohol, red bull, socks, cigar and a belt. The girls got personalised coast hangers, sleepware, bags and earrings.
I started looking for my wedding dress around July, 2015. I had to find the perfect dress. I just loved it . . . the detail and the way it fit me. I felt amazing.
I had pink King Proteas with beautiful natural foliage - the arch was styled in both corners with proteas and foliage. As well as the base on beautiful logs! We chose these flowers because I love the natural earthy look, they are timeless and every time we looked at them we saw happiness.
We loved the rustic theme, so we stuck to a rustic/classic theme. Beautiful wooden signs made from old jarrah with a mix of beautiful candelabras.
Coronet started at 3.30pm with the reception formally starting at 6pm.
Adam had a little surprise organized . . . . . When Adam asked my Dad if he could marry me, dad said "Yes! But in exchange I want 3 camels”. (My Dad has a very dry sense of humour). Adam bought 3 toy camels, put them in a small box and gave them to my dad as we were walking up the aisle, after the ceremony. My Dad loved it.
After the ceremony our guests had drinks at Saint Aidan's or the Waters Edge Café, next to the rowing club.
As we wanted a reception venue where we could choose our own caterer and supply our own alcohol, the rowing club stood out to us because of its beautiful location over the river, with a balcony that catches the sunset and summer breeze.
Our reception was very classic. King Proteas on every table, candelabras and vintage bottles. We made a photobooth from old doors and used a Polaroid camera to take photos with props - it was such a hit. We had white linen with white napkins to keep it looking classic and fresh. We used old suitcases as props a swell as a vintage lolly buffet made from old drawers.
We had a buffet. Tables where called up to collect there meal and help themselves. The plates where placed on the tables and the guests could take there plates up to the buffet and be served by the caterers. We chose this because we love food, and we know our guests would appreciate having a variety of choice.
We are so grateful to our family and friends as they worked tirelessly with us to setup and organise. We were very blessed. There was so much dancing, amazing speeches and mingling on the balcony watching the sunset . . . . all evening long.
A little funny story about my day . . . . my dress kept getting flies and bugs caught undernearth the tulle, after walking in paddocks for photos. The groomsmen would stand there picking out the bugs and fluffing my dress. It was a beautiful feeling to have so many people take care onour day.
If I had any advice for other brides, I would say that the smaller details are what makes a wedding beautiful. Put thought into what works best for you, be unique and never forget the day about is about marrying the person you love. It's easy to get caught up in the stress, but on the day love is all that matters.
We had the most wonderful day and wouldn't have changed a thing about it. The day was perfect.
We head off on our honeymoon in April.
