Interview with the Bride

We gave ourselves 6 months to plan and organize our wedding. We spent $10,000-$12,000.

We invited 52 Adults and 18 kids – the kids were no trouble as we kept them entertained all night with the retro photobooth.

We insisted on paying for everything so our matron of honour and best man so they didn’t have to. I made sure that Sarah my MOH, got a beautiful robe to keep for when we were getting our hair and makeup done.

I loved everything about my wedding dress . . . the style, the lace and my cowgirl boots!! I started looking for my dress a year before our wedding. The groom wore a grey suit.

We had simple flowers of baby’s breath as it helped create the country look I wanted.

We chose Yalyalup Park for our ceremony as it was beautiful and walking distance from our house as most of our family is from over east. It made it easy for our family to get to.

After the ceremony, some people went back to our place, others went for a drive or went back to where they were staying, as most family who came to our wedding had not been to Busselton before.

We decided to have our reception at home as it was way more affordable, and Mark & I wanted a laid-back feel to our wedding. After seeing it all set up in the shed, it was better than we imagined and we knew we made the right choice.

Mark wanted a beachy look and I wanted the country look, so we combined the two styles to make our own unique theme. This included blue jars, starfish, tealights and lace. It was more beachy but still had hints of country.

For our stationery a friend of mine, Louise Harris of A Little Bit Of Prettiness, did all our stationery. We loved it.

The whole night was wonderful and was filled with speeches, our first dance and lots more dancing.

The only advice I have to give to other brides, is to do what you and your future husband want to do. It’s for your wedding. It’s your day and no one else’s.

The only thing I would have done differently - which is minor - is when everyone is getting their food to get the people who have food allergies to go first . . . . so that there is no cross contamination.

For our honeymoon, we have decided to wait and save our money and go to America and Canada when our son is 3.

Did you use Coast to Country Weddings to help plan your day?
Yes I did to look up certain things like photographers and cars…
