Therese & Daniel's Laurance Winery Wedding
Interview with the Bride
We booked most suppliers about a year/a year and a half out from our wedding, but we started planning 2 years before the date. We spent between $20k-$25k.
We had 78 adults and 4 children. The children were entertained with colouring-in books and jumbo bubble wands
We gifted our Bridesmaids a personalized engraved champagne glass each, charcoal pearl earrings, two bracelets, a silk robe for getting ready in the morning, and a small bottle of champagne.
And our Groomsmen received a personalized engraved custom made knife from the US, they have their names on one side, the wedding date on the other side, the knife had a wooden handle which is made from American Maple wood with a Stainless steel blade. And a small bottle of Jack Daniels Bourbon Whiskey.
For our flowers we chose Galaxy blue orchids and cream roses, as galaxy blue orchids are a significant flower for us in our relationship.
Daniel accompanied me as my partner to my year 12 ball (9 years ago) and the corsage, which I kept, he bought me had galaxy blue orchids and cream roses. The flower since then has been significant as that is the flower Daniel purchases for me on all our anniversaries & special occasions.
I loved everything about the dress but mostly I loved the lace detail around the neckline and edging of the skirt. I purchased the dress a year ago but started looking about a year and a half out from the wedding.
Daniel wore a Charcoal coloured suit, a white long sleeve button up shirt with an ivory coloured tie to match my dress, and he wore Black Swarovski cufflinks that I purchased and gave him for our 8 year anniversary in Mauritius (when he proposed).
We always knew we wanted to have a beautiful garden/outdoor/winery/wedding and when we found Laurance we just knew this is where we had to get married. It just felt so right when we went there.
The Laurance grounds were stunning with the lake, vineyards, grass and the rose garden, and with the aisle and arbors above as you walk down it was just perfect.
The structure and timing of the day was quite relaxed as we wanted to make sure we left plenty of time to really take it all in and make it a relaxing day.
The celebrant mentioned in the beginning for everyone to take a moment to remember family who had passed on. For instance my Eldest brother James Crofts who passed away back in 2001 when he was fourteen.
We also had a little ‘Love Lock’ ceremony where we placed our hand engraved padlock onto the fence in front of the lake at Laurance. This was a nice touch for us, as we plan to go back for anniversaries and we will always see our love lock from our wedding day.
Our celebrant really picked up on the love and commitment between Daniel & I, and we felt everyone could really see and feel the love between us.
Most of the guests went back to Wyndham as they opened their restaurant early for our guests to have a meal or a few drinks before the reception.
We chose the reception location as the hotel grounds are beautiful and the function room is stunning.
All of the speeches were beautifully written and really heartfelt. Then we had LOTS of dancing.
Our colour was navy blue and silver, I would say the theme would be classic style.
Wez enterprises set up beautiful flowing ceiling draping that had a chandelier in the centre which was above the dance floor.
Other decorations we had included, white chair covers with navy blue bands around the chairs, the centerpieces were three-tiered vases with a galaxy blue galaxy blue orchid in each vase in water, acrylic ice at the bottom of the vases and a floating candle on top. The centerpieces were placed together on top of a square beveled edge mirror.
I wouldn’t have done anything differently as everything was perfect and exactly what we wanted, I guess my advice to other brides is have what you and your husband-to-be want. It’s your day and no one else’s. On the big day make sure you breathe, go with the flow if there are hiccups and take little moments together to take it all in, it goes by quickly but if it’s like ours, it will be the best day of you and your husband’s lives and the start of a beautiful future together.
Hubby and I honeymooned in Broome.
We drove from Perth to Broome in 2 days, had 6 Nights in Broome than travelled back and stopped at locations along the coast for another 10 Nights (We really wanted to explore WA’s beautiful north and Pilbara as it is stunning up there).
Did you use Coast to Country Weddings to help plan your day?
I used Coast to Country Weddings constantly from searching for suppliers to reading about others weddings. It was definitely a good tool for researching vendors local to the Southwest.
