Interview with the Bride

We spent 6 months planning our wedding. We spent approximately $17,500 on our wedding. We had 90 guests, and only 1 child (who was only there for the ceremony).

We gifted the bridesmaids the cost of their hair and makeup.

I loved my dress, especially the lace - it was awesome and the back.

I started looking for my dress about 6 months before the wedding. It took so long to find, as everything I liked had been discontinued - so I bought a short wedding dress that I liked from Etsy, then got a local dressmaker to add on the skirt and make a few changes.

The groom wore a blue suit, black tie and shoes and a white shirt.

For my bouquet, I had native Australian flowers and also bluebells in remembrance of my Grandma.

Our celebrant, Sarsha, was amazing. She just made the whole thing “us”, making the ceremony really light hearted and not too serious. There were lots of funny moments as well.

As something super special, Oliver & I had our Mums bring up the rings, and I had my disabled cousin sign as a witness for me.

After the ceremony all of our guests went to the Prince Of Wales main bar where we had provided antipasto plates .

We chose the Prince of Wales because it was what we both wanted in one place, I wanted to be near the water and he wanted to be in a park.

I don't know how to explain our theme and styling . . . it was sort of simplified rustic/boho, and the colours were burnt orange, nude and burlap.

I didn't do a lot of extra styling or decorating, because the venue itself is so nice. I had some mason jars with copper light spread around, some tea candles in little jars on the tables and some hurricane jars with candles.

We chose to have our reception at Prince Of Wales, as we met there and have both worked there and it is just an awesome place to go. It’s such a nice venue.

The best part of the evening was having the jamon iberico . . . . and the food was to die for. I can’t want to have an event that requires catering just so I can eat that food again.

I was so happy with how everything turned out. To other brides I would say; just go with the flow - don't get stressed out by tiny little details and don't try to cram everything in.

Take the whole day like I did, starting with a champagne breakfast with just your girls just to chill out before it all starts happening. I’m just lucky I come from a hospitality background and know that no matter how much you plan, something will always go wrong.
