Interview with the Bride
We started planning 18 months before our wedding. We did set a budget, but didn’t manage to stick to it. It was always going to be difficult with 160 guests, but we wouldn’t change anything. We only had one child attend, and that was my niece.
I got my bridesmaids Dior makeup gifts and Rhys got engraved glasses for the groomsmen. Although I did most of the planning and organizing, Rhys was fantastic in helping decide the Seating Plan and assisted with all the music choices. He also helped with alcohol and menu finalizing.
I adored my dress, I loved the train . . . I hadn't imagined my dress with a long train however I am glad Donna suggested it. The dress was lightweight and so comfortable to wear. I started looking for my dress at the same time that we started planning. After not finding anything in bridal shops, I started looking for someone to make my dress.
In my bouquet I had king proteas, roses, lisianthus, button chrysanthemums and fragrant eucalypt foliage.
We fell in love with Aravina when we went there, and it was perfect. We chose to get married in a Catholic Church and OLTB was a lovely new church.
Our Ceremony was at 2pm. This allowed plenty of time for us to have photos with our guests. All the guests then went back to their accommodation and were picked up from their accommodation at 4.30pm. Canapés were served at 5pm. Our formal reception commenced at 6pm.
Our theme consisted of copper, whites and oodles of greenery.
Aravina is the perfect venue as it is breathtaking on its own. We decorated the venue with green garlands on the tables and copper tea lights. The bridal table and bar also had arrangements of king proteas, white roses and greenery.
While we were having all our formal photos, our guests had photos with us and then went back to the hotel where they were picked up from. They then had canapés whilst we were still having photos.
We had a traditional sit down wedding with long tables. The long tables created an amazing atmosphere amongst the guests. We were so glad we chose this layout.
As something unique and personal, we had our mothers light individual candles on behalf of both of our families which we then used to light our candle at the end.
We had speeches from groomsmen, groom, father of the groom, father of the bride and a brief speech from myself. We also did a father of the bride dance, first dance, played the knights horses and cavalier game for the garter. I gave my bouquet to my sister during my speech as she was an amazing help throughout the whole wedding planning process.
Do you have any advice for other Brides planning their wedding?
Don't stress the small things and on the day enjoy every minute of it, whatever will be will be.
In the end, I wouldn’t change anything about our day!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Did you use CTCW) to help plan your day?
Yes I used CTCW for both researching venues and for a DJ.
