Jenna & Scott's Wedding at Evedon Park Bush Retreat
Interview with the Bride
We didn't set a budget for our wedding as I found it hard to know how much to expect everything to cost until I actually started getting costs, and I didn't want to have a small budget set for things like photography and videography, as they are the forever memories you have from the day. Also I didn't want substandard quality on these items, I was very mindful of how much I was spending, keeping a spreadsheet of costs, so if it was getting expensive I could cut costs in other areas that I deemed not as important.
Such as the venue, some of the venues in the South we visited were extremely expensive, and we could not justify the costs, but the venue we found was a 1/4 of the costs of others, yet just as beautiful location, so that was a big saving for us. All up with our 70 guests we spent $31,000 on our wedding.
The gifts for my two bridesmaids I gave them a bracelet with a love heart charm with their name on one side and bridesmaid on the other, (I actually gave this to them when I asked them to be my bridesmaids. The groomsmen got personalised beer mugs.
My Nana recommended Evedon Park to me, after a relative got married there, we had been looking down South (more Busselton, Dunsbrough way). I loved what Evedon Park had to offer like being able to set up Friday, which saved money on a stylist or on the day co-ordinator, plus it included 2 free nights accommodation for us, the ceremony and reception were all in the one spot, and there was accommodation available at the venue, which saved a lot of guests from having to travel, plus the location is stunning.
Our ceremony started at 3.30pm, the ceremony and family photos went for an hour, then we had bridal party photos for 2 hours, and dinner at 7.00pm.
While we were away having our photos our guests stayed on played the games we hired. Evedon Park Restaurant had entree served early while we were away, so when we got back we went straight into mains.
I had Pink Liliums and Blue Orchids in the Bouquets, as Pink Liliums have always been my favourtie flower, and I always wanted them in my bouquet, the blue orchids were to match the bridesmaid dresses and help incorporate all the colours.
We went with the simple elegance of black and white theme, and used the flowers as the colours in the styling for the reception.
I had rectangle tables not round, nothing tall on the tables as I have heard complaints about tall decorations and guests not being able to see each other.
I had fake flowers (as liliums don't last well out of water) so had my florist give me some spares which were used on the cake, this way I was able to incorporate the same colours throughout the ceremony and reception.
My advise to other brides and grooms - Enjoy the planning process, it can be fun if you involve your bridal party and delegate jobs and don't get caught up in the "latest trends". Just do what you want, at the end of the day, it is a day for you and your groom and what you want to do to celebrate your special day!
For our honeymoon we went to Fiji.
