Yesterday I popped out to Happs Winery to check out their new ceremony venue. Happs is located at 575 Commonage Road in Dunsborough. When I drove into the top carpark at Happs Estate it was as I remembered it (honestly it's been a few years since I have been here). As I got out of my car I started speaking to some visitors about what they were up to and what I was doing here. As we all walked around to the Pergola amphitheatre of Happs Estate the whole three of us just stopped and said wow, what a beautiful space. The two visitors I walked in with said what a fabulous location for a marriage ceremony and I whole heartedly agreed.
I had spoken to the General Manager Keith at Happs Estate about the venue recently and said to Keith I will come down and have a look once the weather got better. I couldn't have picked a more perfect day and the venue just shinned I was really impressed.
I have taken a walk through video of the different ceremony locations at Happs Estate which you will see below.
The pergola amphitheatre is the standout area as it is a wonderful big space framed by towering trees which you could accommodate a few hundred guests. The amphitheatre has three different levels so guests can stand or sit to get a great view of the bride and groom during their ceremony. My one comment would be when hiring your celebrant make sure they have a good amp system otherwise the people right at the back won't be able to hear a thing. Also the carpark is right next to the pergola so when the bride or groom arrive they don't have to walk three mile to get to the ceremony location.
The second stand out location is the winery amphitheatre with rustic mud brick and timber housing barrels as the backdrop. This is a space encompassed with large trees to shade the area, so if i'ts going to be a hot day the trees will give your waiting guests much needed relief from the hot sun. Not only is this a great space for a ceremony but also will make a pretty location for wedding photograph's.
At the back of the Happs family home is a private courtyard garden – alive with flowers of every colour and makes for a great spot for some more wedding photos. Can I just say this, this is a garden of love Ros and Erl Happ the owner's have put many hours into all the grounds.
The venue has a real warmth to it and I felt right at home.
As this estate has a cellar door, pottery showroom and artwork on display its a great place for your family and friends to look around while waiting for you to arrive or stay after the ceremony for some Happs Estate celebratory wine while you both head off with your photographer around the grounds to capture some feature photos.
