Ross and Michelle's Busselton Resort Wedding
Interview with the Bride
I chose Busselton as our wedding destination, as I spent a lot of time with family growing up down South, it's a huge part of me, a lot of my family still live there. We gave ourselves 1 year to organise the wedding after we got engaged.
We didn't really have a budget, but I was smart and did most things online or by myself. Compared to many other friends our wedding was less than half what they spent. We had 76 guests including 6 kids.
I always knew what type of dress I wanted, and started looking for it straight away. I loved my dress, it just suited me and my body type.
I didn't have any help to organise the day, I just winged it on my own.
The groom was quite hands on the whole way through the planning process, he chose the suits and overlooked all of my decorating ideas from save the dates and invites to most things on the day.
The bridal party and parents all received a hamper the morning after the wedding, all containing a personalised bottle of wine with our thanks to them and wedding date, personalised beer steins and champagne flutes, crystal bottle stopper & bottle opener. On the day I presented the girls with bridal party shirts and slippers, hair pieces and jewellery & the groomsmen with bling cuff links.
It was only direct family children invited, totalling 6 including my 4 year old daughter who was also flower girl. Their bomboneries were a personalised colouring in book, pen and a tin of pencils.
The wedding guests all had pre drinks in the John Abbey bar while we were getting photos.
The theme was White & Bling, everything sparkly and beautiful. There was all things white, crystal, mirror, bling, feather and fairy lights to complete my theme.
Structure and timing of the day was very relaxed, it all just flowed very easily.
For the meal we had a 3 course alternate drop. Was a great reception and some very touching speeches, I choked up during mine, as I did during our ceremony also (cry baby) haha. Lots of fun and dancing, few too many drinks for some people haha! It was a great night.
Advice for future brides - give yourself time and opt to do as much as you can yourself, I saved a fortune doing my own research. It's not about going with the cheapest option, it's more getting the most for the best price.
After the wedding, we honeymooned in Thailand for 10 days, it was amazing! But nothing compared to our special day.
