Melissa & Josh's Dunsborough Wedding
Interview with the Bride
Josh and I choose the Dunsborough region after having stayed at the Bunkers Bay Resort several times and the first time we were there I mentioned that it seemed like the perfect place for a wedding. Then when we went there for my birthday he proposed down on the beach at the resort. We had an afternoon ceremony and then the reception start time was based around being able to get sunset photos before going in to the reception. Our catering was a sit down buffet for the reception and throughout the evening I had a slideshow of photos of ourselves with the guests throughout our life playing in the background.
When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
I started looking for my dress very soon after the proposal but I purchased it 10 months before the big day.
What was it about your wedding dress you liked the most?
I liked the detailing on my dress and the way it sat I felt like a princess which I think is every brides wish.
What were the flowers in your bouquet and why did you choose those ones?
The standout flower was the galaxy orchard we chose this as I think they are a beautiful flower and then I just had white lillies and roses to make it full.
What special details did you incorporate into your wedding ceremony?
We had a butterfly release towards the end of the ceremony after the signing of the certificate.
What gifts did you get for your bridesmaids?
The bridesmaid's were given a bracelets.
While we had our photos the guests had access to the terrace where pre-dinner drinks and canapes were provided for the hour before the reception starting.
Styling your wedding reception -
The bridesmaid's dresses were yellow and I chose galaxy orchards for the table center pieces and bouquets and blue sashes for the chairs.
The center pieces I purchased everything for and was going to have my family put them together on the day but Lauren the wedding coordinator at the resort was happy to put them together. The ceiling drapes, heart frame for table seating plan, chair covers and sashes and bridal drapes were all supplied by Sherry at Dreamweavers. My sister had to print and cut out the table seating plan and put in the frame on the morning and I had a very close family friend organising the music for the ceremony.
Loved our reception.
We had speeches before the meal from Josh's dad, my mum, the maid of honor and the best man. After dinner guests were able to hit the dancing floor and dance the night away. At the end of the night when I told Josh we were getting ready to say goodbye to everyone he wasn't ready to leave and said "So, we say goodbye exit the room then come back in" I said "No that's it now" and he said "But I don't want it to end".
Do you have any advice for other brides planning their wedding?
My advice would be to make sure you have enough time to organise it write everything down and check it off once complete. Ensure you enjoy the time of organising and always ask for help when needed. On the day don't stress about things going wrong and what might happen because that isn't how you want to remember the day. You want to remember it as the perfect day its going to be.
Is there anything you would do differently if you could have your wedding again?
I wouldn't change a thing it was the perfect day. Where did you go on your honeymoon? We chose to take the camper trailer and drove south and camped along the beaches. We ended up going into south Australia staying at Coffin Bay, Ceduna and Port Lincoln it was a very memorable trip.
