Suann and Ben Preston Beach Wedding
Interview with the Bride
I married Ben because.. He is the perfect man for me. He already has given me the special gift of our son and marrying Ben made our family officially one. We married a month after our 10 year anniversary.
How many dresses did you try on to find the one?
I tried on two. I chose the first one I tried which was actually a style the sales person picked out that I wasn't keen on until I put it on.
What was it about your wedding dress you liked the most?
It was different to anything I had seen before. I loved the lace.
What was the best buy for your wedding day?
I'd have to say my shoes, they were from Forever New and weren't bridal specific shoes so didn't have the big price tag but they suited my dress perfectly.
What parts of the wedding did you organise and what did ben organise?
I left the organising of the band to Ben, and arranged everything else myself.
How many guests did you have at your wedding?
95 including the children.
What were your vows to one another?
They were very personal and even though we both wrote ours as a surprise to one another we still touched on the same things. We both mentioned how we had been together for such a long time and that our son was central to our wedding day. It was all about how the three of us were now becoming one unit.
What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and your wedding party went for wedding photos?
They headed to the reception area and started eating and drinking.
Why did you choose your particular wedding venue?
We loved how family orientated the resort is. We have stayed there a few times just for a weekend and always enjoy it. It meant the ceremony and reception could be in one place and people could also stay the night if they wanted to which meant to traveling required.
Did all those yummy treats get eaten from your candy bar?
Most of the candy bar goodies went but I got to try everything. The ladies came to pack it away at the end of the night and brought extra containers for the candy so I could take it home. We spent the next few weeks eating candy.
Did you feel like your wedding day just flew by?
It did feel like it flew by and now it feels like a lifetime ago.
What was your wedding day style?
Our wedding style was casual and family orientated. We had about 80% of our guests stay the Friday and Saturday night at Preston Beach and it was a real family affair with kids welcome. Even our stylists stayed the two nights and joined in the celebrations and the informal breakfasts we had organised.
The most important part of your wedding day?
I'd have to say the actual ceremony was the most important part to me, the signing of the certificate was very special.
Did you DIY any elements of your wedding day?
Not really. I ordered the invitation and still had to put them together but not to the extent of gluing anything, just folding papers and inserts.
What time did your reception start?
Reception started straight after the ceremony for the guests with us arriving an hour later.
How did you decorate your wedding venue?
It was decorated with lots of white and everything had some kind of light element to it. So the ottomans, cocktail tables and eski cubes all lit up at night. We had a big luminated willow tree and just outside the marquee was a big tree that had fairy lights wrapped around it.
Any drama’s on the day?
I forgot to organise a cake cutting knife so when the time came one of the groomsmen ran over to his shack and just grabbed one from the kitchen.
First dance song?
Was also the song I walked down the aisle to. Drop in the Ocean by Ron Pope. What happened at your reception? Toasts? Dancing? Any funny or meaningful stories you’d like to share? The best man said a few funny stories about Ben and had even printed a rather large cop of his high school photo where he had long dreadlocks. My sister-in-law was our MC and at the end of the night she finished with a slightly distasteful joke, it was rather funny for everyone except her mum.
Now your wedding day is over what have you done with all the memorabilia?
Most of it is still in the boxes we used to take it home. I still haven't gotten around to even printing photos or sending professional ones onto the other suppliers.I would like to thank.... Craig and Glen from WED on Beaufort for all their hard work and effort put into making our day so beautiful. Also our bridal party for helping both Ben and I every step of the way. And thankyou to our families who also helped up arrange things and to those who traveled far (inter-state and international) to share our special day. Our wedding day to us meant declaring our love for one another to all our close family and friends and we are so thankful that everyone come to share this with us.
