Kelly & Kim's Fun Margaret River Winery Wedding
Interview with the Bride
This is the Real Life Wedding story of Kelly and Kim, told with gorgeous pictures as well as with an interview with the bride.
When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
Just over a year before. I only went to the one bridal store and fell in love immediately once I out my dress on! I felt like a princess!
What was it about your wedding dress you liked the most?
I loved how I felt! I also loved how it was made just for me and the bottom felt romantic.
How much time did you give yourself to plan your wedding day?
We had 18 months from between the engagement and the wedding
How many guests did you have at your wedding?
100 including the bridal party
What did the groom organise?
The engagement ring!!! He also did a great job building the table signs and also the card box.
What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and your wedding party went for wedding photos?
The venue served drinks and canapés over looking the vineyard and we had a musician play acoustic guitar. We also had picnic rugs set out on the lawn for guests to relax on and enjoy the sunshine.
Is there anything you would do differently if you could have your wedding again?
Provided some nanna rugs for the guests during the canapé hour as it got a little chilly!
What gifts did you get for your bridesmaids & groomsmen?
We got the bridesmaids their dresses and as gifts I created giftboxes each with a bridesmaid singlet, perfume and their jewellery.
The groomsmen also got their suits to keep, cigars (from my dad) and personalized dog tags which doubled as bottle openers.
Did you make anything for the day or did you get a bargin buy?
Kim made our table signs and card box. I made the bonbonierries, the table centre pieces and sparkler set up.
Were there any other ways in which family & friends contributed to the day?
Our family and friends helped the entire journey by contributing to ideas and also as soundboards and we couldn't of had the entire day go how did without all their support.
What was the structure & timing of the day like for the ceremony and reception?
We had a late ceremony at 4.00pm, followed by canapés and music for our guests while we had photos and then reception kicked off at 6.30pm
What was your wedding day style/theme/look/colour?
We decided to keep it simple to highlight our venue, so we stuck to a rustic/vineyard feel with purple highlights.
How did you decorate your ceremony and reception, to suit your theme?
For the ceremony we used barrels that the venue provided and my florist created flower arrangements with vines on top and had petals down the aisle. At the reception we had burlap table runners with vines along each table, complimented by iron lanterns filled with corks and we used tea lights and rose heads around the room.
Did you have a traditional sit-down reception or did you do something different, if so, what was it like?
We decided on a traditional sit down meal which had a set entrée, choice of mains and our cake as dessert. My dad also wanted cheese platters so he prepared a cheese platter for each table, which was great as everyone nibbled away for the rest of the night.
What happened at your reception? Toasts? Dancing? Any funny or meaningful stories you'd like to share?
We had speeches during dinner followed by lots and lots of dancing which including an imprompt dance off which included my aunt doing a mad shuffle! We also had games at about 10.00pm to break up the night, which had the guests in stitches and 2 of the guests flying across the dance floor trying to catch the bouquet! At the end of the night we had a final dance and a sparkler send off with our guests which was a great way to end the evening!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We spent 2 weeks travelling through Vietnam
