Interview with the Bride

How much time did you give yourself to plan your wedding day?
He proposed in August and we got married in March. 7 month of planning.

What was your budget, and did you stick to it?
We budgeted around 10.000 to 12.000 dollars and we stuckl to it.

How many guests did you have at your wedding?

What were the flowers in your bouquet and why did you choose those ones?
I had Lisianthus and Roses in white, ivory and blush pink and green Hot House Chrysanthemum. They all matched perfectly.

When did you start looking for your wedding dress?
It was a week in October 2013. I went to approximately 20 wedding dress shops within that one week.

What was it about your wedding dress you liked the most?
I knew exactly what I wanted. And this dress ticked all the boxes. It was just above my budget. That's why I had to go back twice to try it on. But I just felt beautiful in it and therefore just bought it.

What special details did you incorporate into your wedding ceremony?
As part of the guests travelled from Germany to attend our wedding we had a bi-lingual ceremony. We also had my sister read the German translation of an Irish Blessing, then my father-in-law was reading it in English. At the end of the ceremony we had a little 'Honouring the parents ceremony'. We presented small gifts to each parent to acknowledge and thank them for their love and support over the years.

Were children invited to your wedding and if so how did you keep them entertained?
We invited the children for the ceremony only. They got driven back to the accommodation after and looked after by a babysitter.

What was the structure & timing of the day like for the ceremony and reception?
The ceremony started at 3.00pm followed by drinks, canapés and photos. The reception commenced at 5.00pm and finished at 11.00pm.

Did you have a traditional sit-down reception or did you do something different, if so, what was it like?
We had a 3 course alternate drop menu with 2 entrees, 2 mains and 2 desserts to choose from.

Why did you choose your particular ceremony/reception locations?
It is a well appointed, cosy property with unique rustic charm, overlooking the vineyard on one side and the winery's magnificent forest backdrop on the other. Perfect for an outdoor-ceremony and walking distance to the reception venue. The Café is set against an impressive backdrop of jarrah and marri forest. It has a rustic, cosy charm, both inside the cottage style building and outside under the shady pergola or on the all weather alfresco patio by the fish pond. Just beautiful.

What gifts did you get for your bridesmaids & groomsmen?
They bridesmaid got to choose her dress and we also paid for hair and make-up. The groomsman got a bottle of a very good spirit.

What was your wedding day style/theme/look/colour?
It was a rustic and vintage style wedding. We used white/ivory and different pink's for decoration and flowers.

What did your guests do after your ceremony while you and your wedding party went for wedding photos?
We had organized a Giant Jenga, Antipasto platters, a beer & wine bar on the beautiful grounds. Brayden Sibbald, a local solo guitarist, accompanied the moment with his tunes and lovely voice.

Do you have any advice for other brides planning their wedding?
No advice, no. I can just say, it's so much fun. I very much enjoyed planning our big day. Maybe one bit of advice: Don't drink any alcohol on your wedding day. It's such a beautiful day and you want to be able to remember every single moment in the years to come.

Is there anything you would do differently if you could have your wedding again?
No. It was absolutely perfect.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We had a little mini-moon in Dunsborough and are planning a big trip to Europe for our first year anniversary.
