Carissa & Regan's Garden Wedding at Laurance Wines
Interview with the Bride
Our wedding was planned in 11 weeks. We were originally going to get married in March, but I didn't have a very good job and we realised that we couldn't afford it, so we put it off till November. Once it started getting closer to November I put my foot down, we were in a much better financial situation, we were going to get married in November and that was final, thankfully Regan agreed. We had been engaged for 3 years and I felt like if we put it off again it would never happen, it would just keep getting put back. So as soon as we found a venue we booked it and started planning like crazy!
I had fake white roses with dyed tiffany blue ones scattered though my bouquet. As I'm not a florally person I just wanted very simple flowers and if possible, to tie in the tiffany blue on some way.
I really wanted to have an outdoor ceremony in a garden. Laurance Winery has one of the most stunning gardens that were just perfect for us. They also offer you access to their private estate, which meant we didn't have to travel far for our photos, they were all taken on the property. Thankfully the ceremony didn't need a lot of work we kept it very simple. We had a couple of tiffany blue chair sashes with flowers as aisle decorations.
We didn't want just traditional vows but we also didn't want the pressure of writing our own, so we wrote our vows together.
We made sure that we had ample time between out ceremony and reception without having too much time for our guests to occupy themselves. Most of our guests headed back to their accommodation to freshen up before they made their way to the reception for pre-diner drinks and canapés.
The whole day wouldn't have been possible without all the help from our family and friends. Our celebrant was Regan's cousin, he donated all of his time to us and helped us out with the ceremony immensely. My sister Keira was our biggest help, having been a wedding coordinator she new all the best suppliers and people in the business. She made majority of our appointments and came along to everything! If it wasn't for all of her help there is no way we would have managed our 11 week deadline.
We hired a professional to style our reception, because we only had 11 weeks - unfortunately it meant we didn't have the time to do much in the area of DIY. However I did enlist the help of Regan (my husband) and my sister to help make all the place cards and the seating plan that were displayed. Most of the family pitched in to help hang fairy lights outside, Regan and I also hand painted the Mr&Mrs Dyson plaque on the bridal table and my grandad made our wishing well.
At the reception the tables had giant tiffany blue hooks draped with pearls, holding a round ball of silk roses with diamonties. We also had our tiffany blue chair sashes with bling broaches and other touches of tiffany blue on our bridal table, in our cupcake icing and on our wishing well.
We tried to get most of our formalities done pretty quickly at our reception, however we did get slightly delayed when we went to cut the cake. Everyone was called to come stand around for the cake cutting, we made our way over there while our cake cutting song was playing. Once we got there we went to cut the cake, but we didn't have a knife. We looked around but no one seemed to know where the knife was. Our MC had no idea what was going on so our song continued to play, one of the guest went and asked for a knife. A couple of minutes later we were able to finally cut the cake with the chef's personal knife. The rest of the night was filled with non stop dancing.
Do you have any advice for other brides planning their wedding:
My biggest piece of advice, you can always save money in so many areas but never try and save money on a photographer! Your photos will be the only thing you will have to look back on and the money is worth it. Also don't plan your wedding in 11 weeks unless you have an amazing wedding planner. If you do choose to plan your wedding in under 3 months I would highly recommend Raffinato Bridal. They had a huge selection of dresses considering my time restraints and their service was amazing.
Is there anything you would do differently if you could have your wedding again?
If we could do it all over there isn't a thing I would change, we had such a blast planning our wedding! It was the perfect day!
Our photographer Pete Battye was brilliant, he is one of the most laid back guys, he makes you feel completely comfortable and we weren't afraid to ask him anything. Pete was full of awesome ideas and was willing to give pretty much anything a go. Once we got our photos back we were blown away, all you have to do is look at his work it speaks for itself!
