Interview with the Bride

We were engaged on April the 21st 2014, and we were married in February 2015, and we spent the full 10 months planning. We had 124 guests. Jase and I made all the wedding decisions together and he organised the honeymoon.

The bridesmaids were given their dresses, shoes, jewellery, a silk robe to wear on the day and an overnight bag. The groomsman each received a retro esky and their suits.

I booked in with Samantha Wynne 9 months prior to the wedding. My wedding dress was specifically picked out by Samantha Wynne. It complimented my body and was simply stunning.

I chose a posy style bouquet consisting of blush pink open roses, white dahlias, lisianthus and soft pink hypericum berries. The bouquet was bound with ivory ribbon and crystal pins. I chose these flowers as they were delicate, soft and timeless.

natashajason 7natashajason 8natashajason 9natashajason 10We wanted the setting for our wedding to be classic and timeless. We were also concerned about the comfort of our guests in the heat, as our wedding was held in February. Yallingup Garden Studios was nestled among large peppermint trees which offered not only a gorgeous backdrop and fabulous photos, but also protection from the sun.

Our theme was classic and timeless, very traditional. We used soft pinks.

Our ceremony booklet was printed on hand fans to ensure guests were cool during the heat. We had flower jars hanging on all the isle chairs and a petal carpet down the aisle. At the reception we had a family wedding table where there was a picture of all our immediate family at their weddings. The center pieces at the reception consisted of a tall glass vase filled with hydrangeas which complimented the gorgeous Aravina gardens.

natashajason 17natashajason 18natashajason 19Our ceremony started at 3:00pm and the reception began at 6:00pm. The buses collected guests from their accommodation from 5pm onwards and guests arrived just before 6:00pm at Aravina. The reception started with canapés on the deck overlooking the lake, which guests enjoyed as it was less formal and they could mingle with other guests. The bridal party had their canapés in the bridal room, which gave us time to sit down, take it all in and really enjoy the day with our nearest and dearest friends. Then once the guests were seated inside the venue the bridal party entered the venue at 7:00pm. We had a tradition sit-down reception.

We were blessed that so many of our family members were able to be a part of the whole day.
* My Grandad is a pastor and so he married us; before he announced “Mr and Mrs Harris” he surprised us and sang ‘the farmer found a wife, the farmer found a wife’ (changed from the song the farmer in the dell) as my husband is a farmer.
* My three nephews were the only children invited and were included in the ceremony. We made them little packs of colouring ins, lollies, cars and a puzzle book.
* Our family and the bridal party helped with styling and set up on the day.

The reception format was very formal. Both fathers gave their speech, then the maid of honor and best man, then the groom. We played a snippet of a song after each guest was introduced. The song was specifically chosen for each person as it either reminded us of them or brought back memories of them with us. We ensured the speeches weren't too long, so we could get dancing sooner.
