Interview with the Bride
We had a very personal and intimate wedding. And our budget reflected this – we spent approximately $10,000, eighty percent of which went to the venue for food and drinks
We had 36 guests including 3 children (all under 5), which was the perfect number for out casual wedding on the beach. Children played with each other and our dog, who was also invited. The sit down portion of the event was very short (main course only) and was very casual.
When planning our wedding, we knew that it would not be a ‘traditional’ wedding and therefore we could eliminate a lot of costs. We didn’t have attendants like bridesmaids or groomsmen, and we didn’t have any flowers . . . not even a bouquet.
I loved my non-traditional dress, which suited me and our casual beach style perfectly . . . . whilst still feeling ideal for the special occasion. I started looking for my dress about 3 months before the wedding. The groom wore blue pants and a white shirt. (He started looking for this outfit 3 days before the wedding, of course)
We love going to the beach & thought it was the perfect location for us. Our ceremony began at 4.30, with a few formal photos and then straight onto the celebration with our loved ones.
We couldn’t have picked a more beautiful spot . . . right on the beach, in the sun. The venue was beautiful without being too formal. The food was sensational. We opted for casual canapé style food for starters and desserts, and a ‘family style’ share-food options for the mains which was perfect.
I wouldn’t change a thing about our day. My advice to other brides is: keep it simple and fun, don’t stress about details & do everything you can to minimize distractions on a day that should be about celebrating with the company of your new partner and your closest friends and family.
We went to Japan for our Honeymoon – ‘Powder-moon’ ski trip in central Hokkaido.
