Tina & Dylan's Silversprings Cottages Wedding

Interview with the Bride
It took us 1.5 years to 'casually' plan the wedding. I was pregnant when we got engaged, so I didn't want to take time away from bebe to plan . . . . just so I could get a wedding 'out the way'. We wanted to enjoy both experiences.
We spent between $15k-$20k to cater for our 65 guests. It was no way near enough, but we managed by saving money in areas that we could. One area we didn't want to compromise on, was the food. One area where I could compromise, was the decor - I did buy a lot of my own decor and have sold most of it since the wedding. After selling things off, we have been able to recoup a little of the budget.
We paid for all the attire, hair and M/U for all our attendants & we had photos from the day framed for them.
I did most of the planning and organising by myself. Dylan organised . . . . the engagement ring, haha.
He works HARD so I didn't bombard him with things to organise, but when things needed to be finished it was all hands on deck and he just did. I never had to ask, he just sat down and licked 90 stamps with me.
I started looking for my wedding dress about a year before our wedding. The element I loved the most about it, was that I could eat without it ripping.
For my bouquet I had roses and succulents, with eucalyptus leaves and dusty miller for the folliage. They were simple and feminine.
Our theme for the day was rustic chic. I just wanted a pretty picnic that wasn't over the top. Our ceremony was fun to set up but horrible to pack down. A girlfriend made over 50 love hearts in various designs to hang from various objects so I borrowed those. We hung them from a really big tree that protected the stage. I also used some piped chairs and vases with flowers and wooden plinths.
The night before as we finalised the set up, friends helped hang & display things, and on the morning they pulled out cakes and put pictures back up if they fell.
The staff at Silverspring Cottages were just amazing. Dylan and I loved the idea that our dogs could be there with us, our closest friends could camp under the stars with us. We love the outdoors and were glad that this gave us a good out from a "formal" eating setting.
It helped us to keep the whole event casual, with minimal formalities and very relaxed.
We had a "picnic" wedding with Mexican food. We love Mexican food - it's an obsession! I made the aztec rugs that sit on the floors and the hay bails & bean bags were supplied by Silverspring Cottages. It was fun everyone could smile and kick off their shoes.
After the Ceremony our friends had a Cocktail Hour, during the evening we kept the speeches to a minimum - just our parents - and the rest of the night consisted of a little bit of cake cutting and lots of dancing.
My advice to other brides would be to "Keep it simple". Accept help and have your pets there with you both. Our wedding was everything we dreamed and more!
We are planning to road trip from Cairns to Byron Bay for our Honeymoon.
We used Coast To Country Weddings a LOT. We sourced so many of our vendors through the website. Thank you!
