Interview with the Bride
We spent 18 months planning and organising our wedding. We spent $30,000 and invited 53 guests including one 10 year old and one 18 month old child. We made sure to have a DIY glow jewellery kit to keep the 10 year old happy and occupied.
I adored everything about my dress . . . the colour, the style, the back of the dress, the detail. It was just the most beautiful dress to wear. I felt incredible in it. I started looking for my dress about 12 months prior to the ceremony.
Ben also looked very dashing in his morning suit coat and trousers.
Our ceremony was at 4 pm in the afternoon and lasted less than half an hour. We had a family friend sing during the certificate signing stage.
We chose to enter the ceremony together without an aisle. We had our fathers as witnesses and the mother of the bride as ring bearer and the mother of the groom as certificate holder.
It was a very wet day and our ceremony was performed under a brolly and we didn’t care one bit!!!!!
The size of Stonebarn allows for nature to do most of the decoration for you and you have about 4 completely different ceremony locations to choose from up to the last minute.
The property includes a truffle farm, a river and a dam. It was a fantastic place to stay for a few days to catch up with family before our wedding.
Due to the remote location we chose to have our photos taken before our ceremony so we could party straight into our reception. This avoided our guests having to find something to fill time with. As we had already taken all formal photos Ben and I were able to join our guest on the verandah for pre-dinner drinks overlooking the dam watching the sun set.
For our reception, we wanted to have more freedom to plan our own style of wedding . . .
* be able to bring in an outside caterer (we were not happy with set menus we viewed at other venues)
* plan a menu with specific dietary requirements (we were actually offered a separate meal from our guests at another venue, as they wouldn’t cater to our whole menu request! As you can imagine, we were not best pleased)
* the freedom to have the food we wanted and the option to party as long into the night as we liked was perfect for us.
* there is a MUCH later closing time at a private venue!!
We had lots of toasting and dancing at our wedding. The groom’s speech was replaced by the bride’s speech as Ben is not a public speaking fan although he was bullied into speaking anyway.
My advice to other brides would be to book the expensive things early. Wedding vendors do raise prices year to year, so book early to secure your quoted price.
I loved my wedding and would not change a single thing not even the rain.
I love that I rocked my bright red wellies in my dress!!!
We flew to Port Douglas for our honeymoon with the rainforest to west and the Great Barrier Reef to the East.
Did you use Coast to Country Weddings to help plan your day?
Yes, we found our photographer through a wedding set displayed on the website. I appreciated that the style was fun and cheerful and felt natural. On the day Pete captured who we are brilliantly.
