We spent 16 months planning our wedding. We spent approximately $55,000. We had 110 guests, including 3 children (niece and nephews) who left early.

Caen wore a dark blue suit, white shirt and a velvet burgundy bow tie. He also wore a pin of love birds on his suit, which was lent to him from his mother, an old pin that was given to her when she was 4.

I did hamper presents for bridesmaids, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and flower girl. This included jewellery, champagne, personalized candles, bath salts, personalized champagne glasses, hair ties (‘tie-the knot’) etc.

We did not gift the groomsmen any items.

I got my dress the month I got engaged, as my Mum happened to be over from the UK and I wanted her to be there to see me try the dresses on.

For my bouquet I wanted roses; they are classic, English like myself, and are loved by the groom.

We chose Yungarra because of the beautiful views overlooking Geographe Bay but set amongst the bush. It felt right having the best of both.

Our ceremony commenced at 3.00pm although I was 40 minutes late!

Our overall theme for our Wedding Day was vintage, mis-matched, homely, with deep plumb and dusty purple tones.

I had a wedding day PA she helped me with spreadsheets and lists in the months leading up to the wedding.

She also got in contact with all my wedding vendors before the wedding so they knew who she was and who to contact on the day. Having a wedding day PA takes the stresses out on the day and the vendors have someone else as a point of contact.

During the ceremony, I had my sister and the groom’s sister do a reading each. One read ‘He’s not perfect’ by Bob Marley and the other read a short poem of how the bride and groom met (written by the bride).

We had our niece as the flower girl and two nephews as ring bearer and ring security!

After the ceremony, our guests sipped on pink champagne cocktails, relaxed on the vintage lounges, enjoyed the acoustic music and the ‘Poms’ soaked up the sun!

They also got the chance to fill out the guest book which was a vintage suitcase filled with blank vintage postcards from around the world.

I really wanted our wedding to have a genuine vintage feel, so I started collecting side plates and dinner plates over the year and a half we were engaged.

I then ended up collecting most items like the cutlery, vases, glasses, tea cups and serving platters. I visited a copious amount of op-shops all throughout the W.A., and even whilst in the UK. My parents went to a lot of car boot sales in England too!

The toasts were very engaging and emotional, especially the grooms who had many guests in tears, even some of the ‘macho’ farmers!

The cake of cheese made by the groom’s sister went down a treat with the guests later on in the evening, with everyone digging in and fighting over the Brie!

Once the music had stopped, the band sat down on the grass and played acoustic numbers with all the guy guests, sitting in a circle and singing along.

I didn’t anticipate how quickly the day would go. When planning timings for ceremony, photos or speeches, add on extra time!

I was told by a friend to make sure that at some point during the evening myself and the groom just stand back and take it all in, just the two of us, appreciating the day and all the guests that have come just for you. We did this whilst sitting down at the reception, and it was an overwhelming feeling of love and support.

For our honeymoon we drove around the whole of Tasmania, eating seafood and taking in the beautiful, diverse scenery.

We were so happy with our photographer Shannon, as he was very easy to work with, before the wedding we had a quick coffee catch up and on the wedding day I hardly noticed him and his partner Jayde do their thing. He captured some great, natural shots, and the way they presented the photos to us in a little wooden box was very unique.
