Interview with the Bride
We got engaged on the 13th of February 2015. I started to look into everything pretty much straight away. We have been together 11 years now so it was a long time coming and we were very excited to start planning our dream day.
We didn’t have a set budget and nothing really blew out. We invited 121 guests. No children were invited to our wedding, except my goddaughter and godson played a role in the wedding but left after the ceremony.
We gifted our bridesmaids a coat hanger with their name on it, their earrings and bracelet, a beautiful homebodii robe and a personalized candle, and the groomsmen received their bow ties and a Horse watch with a message engraved on the back.
Taylor was such a wonderful fiancé! He was there for everything. All decisions we made together and we went to many of our vendor meetings together. It was so nice to have his support and plan our wedding together.
Taylor and I have always enjoyed going down south for our anniversaries and as soon as we started to think about possible venues we both knew we would love to find somewhere in that area. We went to a few different places but as soon as we stepped foot into Wise Winery we instantly fell in love with everything about it. There was nowhere else to visit, Wise Winery was perfect!
My Papa (Grandad) passed away before our wedding and I knew I wanted a part of him there on our big day so I had a small photo of us attached to my bouquet. Jaxon (my brother) played the keyboard as my bridal party and I walked down the aisle. Taylor’s sister Kate (also my bridesmaid) did a really beautiful reading during the ceremony.
We also had my Grandad and Taylor’s Nan to be the witnesses and sign our certificate.
I started looking at dresses online not long after we got engaged, to try and work out what style I would like. I went dress shopping about a year out from our wedding.
When I found my perfect dress, I loved how unique it was. The detailing was just stunning. It was the very first dress I put on and I was in love. Nothing after that came close and I kept thinking about this one dress so we went back the next day and as soon as I put it on again I knew it was the one!
For my bouquet, I had peonies and David Austin roses. I absolutely love peonies and knew I wanted them in my bouquet.
We had a 4pm ceremony. At the end of our ceremony we cut the cake and served it to our guests not long after. We had a big group photo as well as some family pictures before heading off for some location shots.
While we were having our formal photos, our guests got to enjoy some lawn games as well as have canapes and drinks served on the balcony.
We have heard wonderful things about the food and service while we were getting our photos taken. Another reason why we picked Wise. They are well known for their outstanding food/drinks and service.
A really meaningful story from our wedding is while we were having our photos taken on the beach we were asked to look behind us for a picture, as we then turned around we saw our two fur baby pups running towards us.
My Mum had organized for them to be brought to the beach for some photos. It was the most amazing moment as we love our dogs dearly and really wanted to have them there but hadn’t worked out a way to do it. It was so special and they looked absolutely gorgeous with their flower collars on!!
Our reception started at 6:30pm. We had our speeches first up as we wanted everyone to be able to enjoy themselves and party afterwards rather than being worried about not drinking too much up until their speech.
I had always wanted a sit-down reception and it was absolutely beautiful. I love the tables being set and everyone having somewhere to sit down. I wanted my guests to be able to sit back and enjoy themselves so having the drinks brought around to you was fantastic. It felt very elegant and that’s exactly what I wanted.
We had a blush theme with the girls dresses and the flowers. I would like to say it was an elegant theme with a slight bit of a rustic touch with our homemade timber flower arch and seating plan.
We had beautiful gold and white candle holders, lanterns, some fresh flowers and then the small jars of jam or honey for our guests.
For all our décor, we had orgainsed what we wanted and told Brady at Wise how I wanted it to be set up on the tables. I also had my Brother’s girlfriend go in and help set up which was wonderful. My Mum’s partner made our flower arch and seating plan.
Both of our families were incredible in the lead up to as well as helping on the day. We had them setting up fairy lights, putting out chairs and games on the morning of the wedding. It was amazing to have so much support. It meant we could enjoy the day knowing all of that was being taken care of.
The speeches at the ceremony were hilarious. Taylor’s Dad made a lovely speech officially welcoming me to the family. My Dad then had everyone in stitches telling some funny stories about Taylor and I and then Taylor’s Best Man Jarrad topped the night with a really amazing speech. Once again everyone was laughing so much.
My advice to all other brides is to enjoy the process because it really does go so quick and before you know it it’s all over. Also to do your research and find the vendor that you think will best suit your wedding style.
One more thing, don’t sweat the little things. It may seem like a big problem with the stress of everything, but in the end you forget all about it on your wedding day.
We had the most amazing day and I wouldn’t change anything. It really was perfect. To have our family and friends celebrate with us was the best feeling in the world. The rain was frustrating but it made for a really stunning sky and I am so in love with our pictures.
The night went so quickly. I remember dancing for what felt like an hour and then the announcement was made it was time to go. I wanted the night to go forever, it was so much fun.
We went to Bora Bora for our Honeymoon, and it was insane! The water really is crystal clear.
Did you use Coast to Country Weddings to help plan your day?
Yes we did. It was a really handy website where I found many amazing vendors for our special day.
