We planned our wedding in about 3 months.. It was quite rushed however being a weekday wedding most of the things could be booked in this short time frame. We had 49 guests all together. No children and we spent approx around $20,000 however we did go a little bit over that in the end.

I loved my wedding dress for the cape. Everyone kept telling me I needed a veil and it just wasn’t me. When I found this dress the cape made up for not having a veil. It matched in with the dress perfectly and made up for the absence of a traditional veil. I only started looking for my wedding dress at the beginning of November. This is something I wish had started doing at least 6 months before as I had to pay express fees to get it in time. It also needed a lot of alterations so we were cutting it quite fine to have it all ready for the day.

Originally being from WA I knew I wanted a wedding in Margaret River. We made a quick trip to WA to have a look at a view venues. BBCo was the first venue we looked at and fell in love. It had everything, the ceremony location, beautiful backdrop and amazing reception area.

A lot of people came from Victoria and we wanted to make the ceremony and reception in the same place so it was easier for everyone. Not having to travel from the ceremony to reception.

I had my Mum and Dad both walk me up the aisle. I think it’s just as important to have your Mum by your side on your day as your Dad. We also had one of our friends speak in our ceremony about how we met. Our celebrant allowed one of our friends to tell our story as she was there when we first met. It made the ceremony really personal.

We enjoyed so much dancing! There was a dance off and everything! Because it was such a small wedding everyone was relaxed and really enjoyed the night. One memorable moment was when Steve and I had our first dance.. we were only on the dance floor by ourselves for about 30 seconds before all the guest got up and started wrapping streamers around us. It’s an Italian tradition which Steve’s Mum had organised for us.. it was so much fun and something so different. We will never forget our first dance.

My advice to other couples would be - I wouldn’t change anything about our day. My advice would be- don’t sweat the small stuff.. those things don’t matter on your big day.. also if you are stressing about planning things and styling your wedding hire a styler. Best thing I ever did!
