How do you tell your guests you want a kid-free wedding?

We asked this question of our Facebook followers: If you decide your wedding is going to be kid-free, how do you politely tell your wedding guests that you don't want their children at your wedding and how do you think they'll take it? Their responses below for you, hopefully this helps anyone out there trying to figure it out!

NA I just put 'we respectfully request no children attend the reception' on the invites and we had mentioned it from the very beginning anyway so everyone was already aware. Most people were fine with it I guess they have to be.

KD We offered contact numbers for child minding in the area on the save the dates.

SD You can't control what people are going to do... No matter how nice you word it- some people don't get it. Unfortunately you just have to go with it.

KB I explained that our wedding was small and we want all the grown ups to have the best time and not have to worry about the minis. We ended up having one kid there but that was it.

AT tell them.. say something like children welcome at the ceremony but will not be catered for at the reception or whilst we appreciate there are parents among guests, this is a childfree event, thank you for your understanding.

SP I just put the names of the parents on the invites, but I also called and explained that it's an adult only event and we won't be able to cater for children due the venue and the alcohol. They seemed to understand.

CS I added 'adult reception to follow ceremony' on our invitation.

AA I just made sure I put the parents names on the invite. Most people get it now days.

RN Adults only wedding. If they dont like it don't come. Simples.
