We were chatting to a friend the other day who went in for a makeup trial with a business that another friend recommended - unfortunately she ended up very unhappy with her look, it just wasn't her.
Imagine if she had just gone off a friend's recommendation and booked that business for her wedding day without getting a trial? It is just so important to make your own decisions for your wedding day!
Just because your friend thought their makeup (or their flowers, or their celebrant, or their photographer) was fantastic doesn't mean that you will like them. Sometimes you just don't click, and that's fine - that's what pre-wedding meetings and trials are all about, to figure that out before-hand so that you can get it sorted before the day.
We posted this story on our Facebook page and MC said "I had the opposite effect! My pre-wedding appointments were fantastic then on the day it was a total fail with out florist! Bouquets were missing, arrangements were incorrect & she didn't pick up her phone the whole day for me to contact her - my junior bridesmaid ended up walking down the aisle with the cake topper instead of a bouquet! Then to top it all off I'm still waiting 2.5years later for my refund ..... be organised ladies and always have a back up plan!"
Thanks for contributing MC - we agree that even though pre-wedding appointments can go really well, sometimes there is a "fail" on the day. So have a read through our blog archives and find this article "Why you need to contact your suppliers two weeks before your wedding" as that might help too.
